  11. ps, my own birds have open hole all year after racing, they are hand reared by us and have to learn the way of nature be it cats or bop, they soon learn and only the quicest of wit and watching and learning survive and personally thats the way i want it , if you lock them up for six month then theyre not fit and easy prey but hey each to their own . davie.
  12. sorry billy but next year as having no chance at a transporter then ime afraid your bonny y/birds will have a sghock at a liberation and that will have an effect on your returns, unraced y/birds in my opionion no matter how hard trained by the fancier in the year of birth if not given at least one transporter release is sow off the dyke, imo.
  13. thanks davie, i tried to peswiade you to keep on but to no availe, the fed will lose a good race controller, whose next i wonder?.
  14. for one thing we want to stop moaning on about bop cause we all know they are there and it wont change a thing, i have been a driver/ convoyer for six year now and allways strive to liberate in the best conditions with my race controller allways considarating the best weather for line of flight, allways in different weather you get bad races, it is wires in headwinds or overfly in fasty winds depending on direction, whatever the reason for losses the public somtimes land up with our birds and when they do they care for them and are interestyd and want to know more about a racing pigeon because they are facinated by their ability to home to theire home loft, in my time i have met many people with stray birds that have cared for themn and they say to me, do you think the owner will do away with the bird because it didnt make home, this seems to be their idea of us , that should be changed.somtimes when i release the doos i think its more of a survival than a race when you see velocities, i would dearly like flyers to tell of losses and susvivers and be truthfull wth returns but as you know people arnt like that, in the last three year we have had bluddy bad racing with losses wether it be mobile phone masts or bluddy wind generatoras i dont know but we pay our fees every year so the shu should be doing something about it?sorry about the long pst but i just got in from the ripon run and most of my day on the way home is repatriating strays which i dont mind doing by the way.atbest davy.

  18. yes novice you are right, they change quick unfortunately race controllers have to make their decisions on the thursday for sat racing and ime afraid its not looking good for the whole w/end till tuesday going by the bbc, your fed is right going by the forecast however its not an easy task taking races forward for the good of the birds, you cant please everyone so i take my hat off to the controllers, its a thankless job ime afraid.
