in the bhw this week bert braspenning mentions adding bleach to water to keep cocci/canker counts at a low and says that it does work but having heard of this but never practising same what kind of bleach is used thin, milton or what and could anyone who has practised this advise me of the dosage and how often in the week thanks
after doing the darkness the last 3 years i'm going natural this year as i don't and probably never will fly the young bird national so i don't see why i should put myself and the birds thru all that work for our fed programme which consists of 6 races out to ripon 158 mls my team of natural young birds 4 yrs ago competed with the darkies in my club winning 4 from the 6 races they competed in although they didn't win the yb average which went to a fancier on the darkness,my own opinion is by all means darken them if your intention is to compete in specialist clubs/midweek racing or national racing jmo
i'm along these lines also didn't do me any harm season 2010 competed in every national race except the longest one picking up 4 national diplomas, ypres was my worst race where it was the only national race i never timed in so will have to rethink this one in 2011,i personally think that a pigeon is not at it's best untill that 1st flight is chipped but on it's 4th /5th it's past it's best
paired up a brother /sister last year both o8 pigeons that had both scored in my fed(not nestmates)but same parents took 2 young birds off them in 2010 no freaks in fact nobody could pick them out just now in my team, anyway both flew down to our y/b open 158mls no prizes but i'll keep you's posted on how they perform as yearlings
geo why dont you put ONDULINE corrugated roof sheeting on your loft it's about £13 for a 2x6 sheet from wickes, once it's done it saves you a lot of hassle in the long term and you can lay it on the felt you already have on your loft
well done to scott (SCOTTY M) on the PB site was talking to him at the show and overall he had a good show with his entrants well done also to all the entrants and winners
