I was told as a Tesco manager years ago, and the same philosophy remains there to - day apparently... Better to sell 9 at 2/6 (12 p) profit than 3 at 3/6 (17p) profit! And I personally believe that to be as true to - day as it has ever been. I really do believe that many have lost sight of what is actually ‘Beyond means’ in regards the average working class. £5: 35p x 40 equals approx 213 before stoppages! I also believe – as stated many time, that the price / costs to a youngster starting up, let alone maintained is too absorbent for most. Many to – day struggle still to come out with £200 in the wage package, that’s IS the cloth to start cutting away at. Now if one has 2/3 youngsters and the wife only can contribute with an evening Bar Job or whatever, then £20 per week (£1000) is a lot to fork out. And that is nowhere near what the realism of costs are… just what one tries to convince the wife is lol - A tenth of cross earnings for starters! Then there is training costs, and then an endless list. Have a clever ideas man in our club… no diplomacy whatsoever… won’t buy above ½ pint and still orange for misses per night. Stays for a fun – raiser and has one bet. He wins a fiver and dashes of home. Now has a real good income. Idea all expenses for the coming race season paid upfront … which means you don’t then pay for your racing –no you have ALREADY PAID – same for those OAP’S etc. –‘Time you paid your way instead of others keep subsiding you says he!. £150 - £180 per year and you can pay by instalments if you wish etc. A 1/3 resigned straight off before the AGM. And ten it never got through of course because it would have been £250 per person. This time around… 5 y/b’s £2 each, only to be counted in the race… then say 30p – 50p the others as ‘Trainers’ Sure he HAS the money, the means, won’t put up for oat, won’t come to any more fund – raisers.! No! If one wants the sport to continue, let alone expand, then we need to encourage those already in it to stay. Costs there have to be checked, so those WHON CAN ONLY send 2 or 3 per week can still send. I daren’t ascertain a guess their numbers or percentage, but it is high, and rather that feel embarrassed in saying so, they send even less, or pack up.

Anyway isn't about Time that the NFC / MNFC / BICC etc. put in a clause that if Racing is permitted over the channel next season but again curtailed to 31 July, that hey will start y/b's programe earlier to enable a few channel races... save even mid June! Was a time whe birds didn't go together till Mid March and many still don't, and even later so they would be quite able... that's if any one wants y/b's over the Channel instead of say Sennon Cove!

May I respectfully say to Poacher that use used that very scenario time after time. Members won't even allow the RPRA to employ a PR firm! Let alone give a singe quid - possibility less, to employ one! AND THAT'S PER YEAR, and if every the sport needed one, they a voice piece to the media and DAFRA in regards Avian Flu then that is now! And to voice an opinion to Ken Livingstone, and the RSPB in regards hawks... ALL with a built in think tank that sees it as it is and not in a slanted view of ours, to put over our case. Then I must also say though poacher that it is what one get in regards of VFM -Value for Money, and where and how one spends their' hard earned cash. I for one work very hard and long unsociable hours to earn a pittance, and let's face it the NFC and any other don't warrant, let alone deserve the money! I thought that past performances and the running of them points that way very clearly. Better still let the posters voice what they have done that warrants a 300% rise! I know when I was a manager at Tesco and asked for a rise they asked how much! Then looked at past performances to see if I warranted it, or there was a chance of recuperating their investments. If given a rise- which I always was - I was told I had a certain time limit to increase revenue to the same percentage. Likewise with any concern, prove must be in the eating, and past performances taken into account! So do they, or any of them deserve as such ...? !

Well I have just sent off my last resignations, which now means have left all South Rd Club Racing. Personally I have ample of letters back and forth with Mp’s and MEP’s in regards next seasons racing. The two main stumbling blocks for me was 1. The fact that though many ‘Names’ have offered help and their services, none was ever taken up in regards our dealing with DAFRA.. – Am I am not referring to Peter Bryant who has, and is, using much info from many good sauces. But surely if ever a case of ‘Little Children help your mother’ then this is / was it! 2. No alternatives programs were forthcoming, and never will be. Do I mind that the majority of members never lobbied the MP’s? No! That is to be expected, beside surely in is the so called elected ‘Leaders’ responsibility to take these matters into hand and deal with them! No have, and as for the silly scenario that ‘Members’ should voice an opinion or even vote on it, well that is in it’s self a joke. Why, much want they do want or even have voted on is ignored! Why else do they put their names up and get voted in! Well besides ego tripping and looking out for preferable changing such for their and their’ ‘Muckers’ advantages. I personally 100% believe that the whole sectional boundaries should be up heaved and re-laid! Yes action is needed, for ‘Though we can’t alter the wind, we can re - just our sails’. Never realised just how much money I chuck away flying the South route till I kicked it into touch! Better spent with a view of ‘Being apart of, than being used to fill the coffers of more fortunate.

Agree entirel Rory, and that was totally unfair or called for. I've never held to that. Besides many were popular as barmen because they could joke with wifes with the husband being jealous.... how pathetic is that! But if there is a film about Gay Cowboys, fine, I have a choice to choose whether to go or not! My post was about how human rights had gone barmy! How I had said that soon you would be compensated if you were stopped from committing a crime, as it was your 'Human Right'to do that whether it was bad morally or whatever.... and that that had now happened. Same here , And Bruno I have been imprisoned twice.... got promoted holiday, was suppose to be at Butlins holiday camp, and prison is a darn site easier. And if your good, you get promoted to an open prison... or your a 'Name Crook' like Archer. lOCK UP IS 10 ... WELL time we finish our games it's nearer 1/2 past. Called for breakfast between 7 30 and 8 00 or you may stay in the room or go where ever. Shut up 9 till 11 max whilst dinner is prepared etc. and that's on a bad day. Then shut up is for another hour whilst tea.... Then lock up at 10... That is the fact. If the screws are in a good mood longe out... Only reason for lock up in day time is for cleaning or preparing purposes. In the mean time you have rcreation, games, phone access, So called work classes, or whatever you like, that's a fact, done it twice... Admitted only for a week .. Second time round I purposely missed a day of surrender to do extra time, a week -end, because you can only be released on Fridays and Mondays. My crime, refusing to tax my cars and protests that less than 20% actually gos to repair, biuld new roads etc. the other into Goverment coffers ... like the forced Council house sales that weren't allowed to go back to the council... remeber before she put up the intrest rates so high and thre them out of work ... Yes ok so her muckers could buy up the property cheap. Any Bruno don't class prison with remand, two completely seperate rules and codes.

Very true Les, some see in minutes what other never see in a life time! Well believe that also Stuart. As a great fancier told me, All good birds are bred from distance stock... Meaning when selecting birds for a family, Distance birds with the right Constitution is every thing, regardless what system you put them on regards the distance Races one may specialise in. I personally believe that to be true.
