  5. At the Terracon test sites, noise was measured in lofts 2,000, 600, 200, and 100 birds. Surprisingly, the 600 bird loft was louder than the 2,000 bird loft, but just barely. These sites recorded 59.2 dB and 61.1 dB respectively. The 200 bird loft made 54.7 dB of noise while the 100 bird loft, probably the most common size for American fanciers at the peak of population, recorded 52.9 dB. These readings were taken INSIDE THE LOFTS. Therefore, INSIDE a 100 pigeon loft, it is about as noisy as people speaking in conversational tones. Actually a bit less, because normal speech is about 60-70 dB. Common sense dictates that at 20, 30 or 40 feet distance, the noise levels would be commensurately less. It would seem that the noise level of site, then, would not be at a level that could be considered a nuisance, since it is at a lower level than normal conversation. This conclusion was supported by Terracon in a study of the 100 pigeon loft. A monitoring device was put on a fence line approximately 25 feet from the loft. Tests revealed a noise level of 57.4 dB during the day and 55.4 dB at night. The pigeons were then REMOVED from the loft and the noise level tested again. The daytime average was 49.1 dB while the nighttime average was 44.6 dB.

  10. With Ireland showing the French aren’t that hot after the trouncing of Scotland, and the lighter Welsh casting Scotland aside, one has to ask just how poor are the Scots in all reality!? Certainly looks like Wales to be runners up to England now on what games we’ve seen thus far. Can Italy beat Ireland to the 3rd spot? Could well happen, and seems most likely that the Scots will be bottom. J.M.O.

    England V Italy

I Know what you mean...Just like the English have to put up with the Johnathon Davis drivel and non stop excuse or patronising guff. 16. Let's hope so. Have been promising - spacums of neat , great flair... but, sadly not really shone since the Gavin days I feel.
  17. Rooster J. Cogburn that post is realism and true. Here the MNFC have 150 miles breadth in our section. Likewise the NFC, and the NRCC 130 - 150 breadth, and want the lads in the West to pay the coffers and give 130 + miles to the East Coast boys etc. to boot. Never mind the locations in the Valley's where they break. One has to compete in sections... and then to give that amount away to the East and their money, one is better off buy extra corn lol. BUT it goes without saying, one can still put up 'Great' peformances that speak volumes of credit when any one interested cares to look. Yes MOST know these things.
  18. Yep, The luck of the Irish eh! Just ask Italy lol. Yes France looked good, and demolished the Jocks easily... After their Bavardo about being certain winners. But like I said before the game, the Jocks have flair, not an abudance of it granted, but sadly lack any consistancy.
  19. Might have an added bonus as they try to impress their new owners to be eh! lol
  20. Who will win the RBS 6 Nations Survey? Will keep you posted when and as I check for further results! England 48 % England 8,791 votesFrance 23 % France 4,338 votesIreland 10 % Ireland 1,948 votesItaly 3 % Italy 637 votesScotland 8 % Scotland 1,558 votesWales 8 % Wales 1,498 votes That's nearly 1 in two, and considering thr English don't vote lol....
  21. You know in reality, VERY often the winners are anywhere near the best bird in the race! Wind and location. Sprint birds winning distance because of the true distance birds are held up at the channel because of the ludicriss and unfair 'NOON LIBERATIONS'! Have yet to see a 'Name' that has bought his location having moved to the West! Seen many keep rotating with each other to get further East though. Those that want the best look at the wind and weather and the LOCATION when searching for good genuine birds .... so Bigda, I don't think, personally that it would make a jot of difference, and the saying 'You have to be in to win it' and 'I can't dictate how good and fair the opposition is' etc. and one will put his hand in his pocket, or won't, regardless. J.M.O.

True, and I personally think a week is way to long. Most places have next day delivery... so depending when ordered two days tops I feel. Won't bother with them meself like. Why should I? Seen enough strive caused to others... What does one think I'm mad? Would be If I went there to chance crap scenarios.... Now wouldn't i!
  23. Think it often follows when a bubble is burst a few bad results follow, taking time to adjust again. Tink therefore that City will triumph again Man U. Mind if any side wants to win the title, then United have to lose a few, so for the rest of the contenders a City win must be the best option. Can see a draw being any good for City as they too need to make up ground.
  24. Personally I think Song Birds first, then mention that the 'Pigeon' - war hero's etc. are being desicrated and many fanciers etc. ...
