Enjoyed the day catching up with friends and looking at doos, had a good and informative chat with Kevin winters pigeon health and a look at feeding products etc, well done to all the fanciers winning tickets with special mentions for Andrew suckle,Davy Allison jim Hannah etc winning cards with their racers, left early to catch the jags game which was abandoned at half time!!!
Have in the past geo but not recently,280 - 380 is enough for yearlings IMO,plenty of 500 mile winning yearlings over the years but plenty thrown away also!
Natural for us geo, usually 3-5 races up to 290 miles but older birds that have been over the course before could have less racing,we have sent cocks to the gold cup after flying the first inland national though, most important though birds bred for the job in hand! maybe a bit old fashioned here geo!!
Let's hope there are great times ahead for the SNFC with some new ideas and maybe some modern practices adopted, time though for the members to back the club!!!!!!!
Mick I think that in previous years some federations have missed out on the chance to have their transporter put forward and obviously fairness is paramount, also on the talk of costs the transporter must meet the standards expected of the membership which would be top of the list.
The idea of the national buying a transporter has been kicking about for years and IMO not a good idea, the transportation of the national birds should be distributed fairly between any federations who wish to put themselves forward at an ideal time of the year when fed transporters are usually lying idle.
