andy we also raced the midland fed programme 2004-2008 and timed in every federation race except last young bird race 2006 when only 1 bird was recorded in the federation in race time,as for how many finished the programme i dont think there were many,the young birds had it very hard and we did change (2008) due to lack of numbers at the end of the season,we have definately noticed a big difference with racing east,only my opinion but you guys will do what you think is best,but there is some good advice is on this thread. ;)

yes, yes, and yes.to the questions. have been lucky enough to have won club and fed averages in the 80s,90s and 00s,and yes as some folk have pointed out you can win an average with a good bird in the longer race after maybe not being that good the rest of the season,you can also win the avs flying great from start to finish,i think that most clubs and feds have more average trophies than you think being 2 race avs first 5 av, inland avs, old bird,combine, y/b the list goes on.and yes averages are important to clubs feds and even nationals as we must have a start and finish point to a season especially in todays climate with very much less fanciers. :)
