well I get it every year usually pretty bad and I DONT darken them now these last two Years I give my son a few and he DOES Darken them and he seems to get away with NOT getting it there you go.

Mines must be fanciers that tell lies about there time on a Saturday after the race saying there in at 6 past when there actually in at 5 past why do people do that It baffles me YOU KNOW WHO YOUS ARE.

John Imo it's very hard to tell how many it affects when it's amoungst your team they might look ok but you can't see what's going on inside them and pigeons canny talk to tell you how there feeling I would say it varies every year as to how many get the full blown symptomsThis year my ybs were very good up to the first YB race where I sent 30 and on the Monday after the race I must have had about 6 to 8 throw up there grub and then the droppings went bad and the weight loss etc now I hope your not going to tell that I should have pulled the heeds aff them because these same ybs can go on and score well from 450miles as ylgs that's a fact I've proved it and by the way surely some of these top athletes that you see winning gold medals at the olympics must have had illness when they were young so I would say if you've got confidence in the young pigeon you must give it a chance these days.

What product do you use? I get ybs every year sometimes before the racing and training starts . I race my young birds on the natural system and I refuse to give antibiotics as a preventative but I will use antibiotics for the secondary infections when they get it I've tried various products over the years but Deweerdts Belgamco seems to do the trick for me but what I will say is that when the virus is amongst your pigeons I think it's very dodgy to race them as they may look ok but it's very hard to know which ones have it cooking inside them which can result in catastrophic losses imo Especially when they have to put there shoulders to it.So for me I would rather test them well as yearlings when hopefully there well over this YB ailment.

Battle scars is a better name for them.

I know of a gold award winner that came here from Ireland covered in fret marks as a YB and as I said its went on to win a gold award with the snfc and produced many winners.

About six to eight short tosses and I mean short tosses Craig from say euro central or the equivalent is all they need in the year of there birth. Next year once again about six to eight tosses preferably with other pigeons ( mixed up) to about 30mile if you can and after that they are ready to go to the first race and if they are any good and can avoid the peregrine then five races to 250 miles.
