Well John that's the first I've heard that! thought it was something to do with the fact that if wee went ourself to Ypres the turnout would have been very poor but there ye go you learn something every day lol.

A good convoyer puts a layer of fresh shavings in the baskets and feeds the doos on top of it and as for the drinkers they served the pigeon fancy very well for donkeys years before Geraldy came along.
