  1. Not sure wether the Irish have a differant race point at Truro but the one we race from is still classed as Truro but infact it is Stithians park code 4118.Sennen cove racepoint is on the car park at the top of a hill code 4100.
  2. Parents look impressive but what have the birds bred.
  3. Just wondering if anyone is sending to this race and if so are you basketing at Cirencester.
  4. I dont think you get the rings as well the price is for the stickers to go on the rings, there is a firm in Tewkesbury that make a coiled ring with your phone number on which are very good they usually advertise in one of the weeklies.

Went last year,it wasn,t to bad nothing like the ammount of stalls thats at Blackpool but it was o.k. I will go again this year but not to sure wether you would think it worthwhile travelling all that way by train.
  6. Just won dering why you are trying differant rings on your Bricon system instead of using Bricons own surely that cant be a good thing.
  7. We have Bricon and Unikon in our club they basically do the same but the Bricon is cheaper for the basic set up.
  8. Couldn,t agree more to me cancelling a race on the strengh of a weather forcast is stupid, they never seem to get it right in our area anyway.
  9. Hopefully prises will fall as more people buy the systems but i suppose it,s like any of the other clocks that you used to be able to buy new some were more expensive than others but all do basically the same thing at the end of the day.I think there should be at least one person in a club that should look into the ins and outs of the ETS so that any member who wants to use it can.As a secretary I felt that it was my juty to find out as much as I could simple for that reason after all we had to find out how to set other new clocks that have come out over the years.
  10. Going on other Benzing clocks i would think their ETS would be a very good system but as you say the M1 is very expensive and i know when i inquired they told me the new one wouldn,t be ready until the 2008 season.
  11. I to decided to buy the bricon system and find it very good. What i will say is that as club secretary i had the Bricon club system and the Unikon system to set up on my computer and work out and found the Unikon one the easiest, since we have been using ETS in the club i have found that there are some things better on one system than on the other and visa versa.
  12. Funny you should say that Stevie thats exacly what people down here are saying when you buy the unikon and have to buy extra,s.I think you will find there is not much difference in the basic set ups but the unikon is about £80 dearer.

No matter which you buy there is no guarentee that either will be winners.

    ETS

Must admit there mate you are correct, guess thats one problem you would have using ETS,only way round it as i see would be to change it in the club to the first nominated pigeon or if you got ETS dont bother to have a go.
  15. Hi BigK, Are you in the U.K.If so if you have a copy or can get a copy of the RPRA rules you will find that the rules governing ETS are set out in there. Some organisations are trying to bring in their own rules but this is wrong as you cannot make a rule which conflicts with one the RPRA allready as in place. The Scottish union have their own rules regarding ETS which i believe are slightly differant than ours.

You dont have to tell me mate that they dont race birds anymore when i was born they did,All i can say is congratulations to you on your performances there is no denying that the birds you have had from them have done you proud but i know of loads that have spent thousands there and done no good at all. When you think of the many thousands they must breed there there is bound to be some that are going to be lucky and get good birds but i would bet that the percentage of winners is low compared to the losers. As for being in business for so long i think even they would agree that they are nowhere near the size they were years ago.

Sounds good paul but is he going to give you birds off his pigeons that are breeding winners or off birds that breed pigeons that inturn breed winners somehow i wouldn,t think so.

People on the forum have had success with youngsters off them, but personally I wouldn,t buy birds from them for stock, after all who in thier right mind would sell pigeons that are breeding winners, unless they were packing up.I wouldn,t be concerned about how close they were to the originals, after all you want to breed winners off them not have them just because they are a son or daughter of some big winner.Well thats how i look at it.
  19. Sorry to have to correct you on that one Bruno but there definatly is some variation in the clocks,my Bricon clock was 4 secs slow last week after being set correct the night before,we also have 4 Unikon clocks in the club and i would say that there as been a variation with at least 1 or more of them each week, but they were allways correct on the friday night.
  20. I believe club officials can come to your loft on a raceday anyway if they feel that something could be amiss, the ets clock is run for 24 hours same as any quartz clock to make sure it passes the test.
  21. Understand tha SHU ruling on this but unless there is a club or fed official with you at the loft when you clock in nobody will know which pad you clocked in on or where the pad was situated,as Mick says if the clock doesn,t record the number of the pad(which it doesn,t) what is the point of sealing the pad in position when you could clock in on another pad which you could place anywhere as long as you could get the bird to pass over it
  22. Hi Ed,any chance of putting a picture of the clock on here, there are 2 or 3 models of Benzing Quartz, the thimbles are for clocking your birds in from a race,do you not use rubber rings on the birds when they go to a race.Could you give me more info.on countermarks which you say the clock as.
  23. I never keep youngsters through the winter that have not been raced,I have stopped a few in the past that have had a couple of races but even that i dont like doing.
