  1. sedochol twicw a week is my pick of the list
  2. im a bit stuck to clean out 2-3 times a day , due to full time work 10-12 hours 5 days a week, and i fly on me own but im now glad i dont have to have cleaning out routine i still enjoy my time with them never had them so tame as every time i feed i now have time to hand feed all of them which was time spent with the scraper in the past, i thought the dropping would build all over the floor but it dont and my floor is always dry as a bone in the past its was wet where dropping were like under the perchs etc if i had not cleaned out and i used to hate this build up, take today i had half day at work home just after 2pm now while a had a wash i let the birds out then spent half hour feeding them by hand rather than having to scrap them out
  3. greenlands i should have added i done think it will work in section with a lot of birds no matter how well vented due to the build up as the litter needs time to work i have 18 cocks in 11-12 feet if i raced natural in this section i may have to use less box's , my ybs will be 40 babies in a 10 foot by 6 foot shed
  4. hi greenlands first i put down hemicore , then i added a thin layer of cat litter granules then where the builds up is i add a covering of cats litter under perchs after a few months it seems to work on it own with a little cats litter in the heavy areas, my stock loft has grills but now these have been removed and the litter is down as i prefer this, i dont rake it at all as its best left to do its own thing my shed is very dry(cork dry) this is vital i have a 3 inch opening full length of the back and side at roof height plus ground vents front and back every 6 feet, i am not sure if the ground vents are needed but as i have them i kept them, i have asthma but dont have any problems you never seem to see dust flying around, make sure you but the quality cats litter its not much more but well worth it
  5. i was told by a vet unless you have a wire floor or can clean out 2-3 times a day even in winter you are best with a dry litter , since i went on to a dry litter my birds condition has improved , i even throw a litle bit of seed into the litter when i call them in , recent results back from my dropping test show no worms or canker and low cocci count which i wished to be zero but still not to bad ( had it down 6 months), i only put cats litter over the top of the dropping they soon dry out , it takes some getting used to at first having been a scraper man but i prefer it now, my nest boxs have 1 inch cats litter in them and i just pick off the heavy dropping in them and all my perchs are v or pole
  6. agree but would like to improve more on the past ,
  7. cat litter is good i agree , but get the non powder one granules is what you need cost a litter more but well worth the extra cost
  8. can any one post what they think is the best branded corn for middle distance races , i keep thinking of gerry and energy mix, all i have read points me this way but i have always done better with a few peas in the mix so maybe superstar with some energy mix and maize added from tuesday ? as superstar has a higher protein level than gerry thoughts are welcome
  9. i have only heard good reports on the garvo corn
  10. agree with this as this is what i was told by a vet, in the kevin hurst book he tried doxy for 40 days then had to inject them when he was a loft manager over seas

  14. with clamydia had it with the birds 3 years back had to use doxy for 28 days then on to baytryl on vets advice lost 5 birds to it , had birds re tested and hen again re tested and still come back positive, stopped racing when the vet told me i had it, did not race for 1 year as i was unsure of the spread culled 10 more birds , after 10 months test come back clear from the remainder left, i used 7 days of bleach then after couple of days of plain water 3 weeks of mild cider vin , repeated this for 3 months , i couldnt shift it but it seemed to run its course and the birds with the better immune system came out ok but they are not always the best prizewinners, i do feel i had over the 2 years before over treated my birds and played about with the immune system, since i restarted with the birds they had held there own once i started treating weekly they never improved that much to what they had before, i am now following gary Inkleys method and the birds have never looked better
  15. i treat on food , what every i use ,where is says this amount to one liter i use this for 20 birds as a guide, was told this was a good guide by a vet that way they get there dose i measure 20 oz of corn and use add herb to stick the powder to this way you no they take all the medicine

how long do members of the site feed fat seeds to there birds for prior to a race ,i have read many articles where fats are used for 2 days before basketing but for races of 300 plus is that long enough to get into the birds system?
