  1. i think if you use a all round mix( which had peas/beans in it ) with 25% barley added is not a bad mix then add 25% maize to this from tuesday or wednesday, but after 250 miles i would drop the barley and add more maize and fats to the breeding mix maybe 50% breeding , 40% maize 10% fats you can get any energy type mix for 250 miles plus up to 200 miles fed all they want on saturday of barley /protein/seed mix .then only around 1 oz sunday and monday, tuesday 1 and1/4 ,wed 1 1/2 ,thursday all they want , friday just energy mix all they want over 200 you will need to feed more early in the week

    an one tried gem red ruby race mix, it looks good for feeding wednesday -friday its seems to be a high carb mix

    on taylors not all the corn has the protein, carb etc breakdown i guess it depends on the info given to taylors

  11. my worry on the gerry early in the week was the lack of protein to re build and repair muscles , maybe i over think the need for this i was thinking of superstar with a bit of barley or a bit of a higher protein corn (maybe yb mix) added early in the week to the superstar depending on the work the birds have done on the saturday,from tuesday just superstar

  15. i think matrix is not the best thing while breeding as birds will over eat on it , but twice a week is not enough grit for them get a couple of bags of grit a give them fresh dailey use matrix after breeding

  18. do any members recall using race master from vic taylor based in the north west i used it in the late 80's with my ybs and flew really well on it with fed wins during this period, it was sold in a red bucket and looked a bit like hormoform used to add it to the normal yb mix, i think it sheffrin mill or a name like that that i purchased it from

  22. i use the doctor brockamp sedochol , i get it from syndicate lofts
  23. could the votes not be more down to what you get rather than what you want , vl is way ahead plus you can get it in 90% of the country the trouble with making you own is the room it takes up as you have to get 10-15 bags to get the mix right as per web sites maybe 4 maize,2 peas ets etc

  25. any other views ,i looked at the varimix but it seems to have more protein than carbs ?
