why are they dirty , is your loft damp? or does wet get into your shed, how many birds do you have and it what area wiley is right you need to look at what is behind the problem -
i have wire doors behind main loft door which i open for much of the day .
-
i use add herb on the corn 5 days, sedochol 2 days , in the water i add a iron /iodine tonice once a week thats all the add herb does keep the feathers in nice condition, tried most things but this is the only one which i have seen a difference with

yes i will soak some peas tonight let them be fed in the morning then have them away thanks
-
yes that makes sense , was putting all the hens and ybs in the yb section ,but was wondering if the younger ones might not get there fill, the trouble with the cock is he does not seem to most strongest cock in the loft and did not want to risk the ybs coming to harm in the shed with the other cocks
-
i should have added the reason is i wish to race the hens late in the season into july ,hence not wanting them to sit again yet
-
most of my ybs are 16-19 days and i want to wean them with the hens as i have done before, i have one pair 12 days can these be taken away at the same time as the cock is looking at his hen again and i do not want him to re pair/tread although i put the ybs on the floor for the hens to feed will this pair be ok or can i myself do something to help this pair over the next 3-4 days

years ago when i was a kid a cat got in my sputnik and killed 5 of my birds got home and it was sitting sleeping in one of my box perchs with other birds in the section , so cats do kill more than one maybe it couldnt get out of the trap ,
-
when i seperate the hens they seem to want to land or walk around in front of the cocks /box section any ideas to prevent this and keep them flying
-
same here , no prisoners for me since july last year (not of my choice) but its the best thing i have done for room and time to many break pigeons or breed from untried stock the 5 of winners i would would be very low
-
jim armstrong supplies to range and has a very good service
-
used them 2 times and by far the best for delivery times and stock
-
i thought they were moving to a new place
-
i mix it on pin head oat meal,
-
when you first get them (i take it they are baby's0 leave the corn in front of them for a few days but take it out at night, make sure you dip there heads in the water so they get the hang of it then add 25% barley to the mix feed them a bit at a time, and soon as you see them starting to leave barley stop feeding always use a rattle or whistle when you feed them so they know the sound
-
once they settle down they fly well at home on a hopper of beans and a teaspoon of a mixture , i have noticed mine flying better this last 2 weeks , plus i now dont worry when im on late shifts about feeding times , made my life easier ,will have to see how results go this season
-
from late march as long as we have some nice sunny days , been caught out leaving it late before with the weather being poor and not being able to train
-
do you hopper feed the carb mix or feed it twice a day once you remove the hopper of beans
-
mine are open all day (not night) unless fly pairs seperated or close to basketing
-
was going to fly cocks to box section hens to the v section during the week and all trap to cocks section after training or a race and look to pair for the longer race in july, use the shorter club races for training and concentrate on the 250-400 miles races from mid may onwards , that way i can have my saturdays off on them race dates
