Hey Mick can you Help ? I Collect birds from a club, bring them to our club, pick up our own, then take the lot to meet the transporter. Q. Do I need a licence.
-
Snowy your still too early for me pal, mine are due to hatch next week, apart from a pair that I imported last year. They have young just hatched. BUY THAT BOOK BY THE VET.
-
Exclude the opposition if you wish, but this is the one way to put everyone on an even scale. We all know that there are those that will set up there own club to get ther own way. Good riddance to bad rubbish

Hyacinth, I can tell you last year I sent 3 to Tarbes. On the French/Spanish border 634mls. Got one on second, day none on the day this far. This was the first time I sent that distance. It was three days before I could talk about it properly. I've won on the day from Thurso 443mls, and it just aint the same. That was my first red card. I was 21st section so no cards at-all. He didn't hit the back of the loft, but I truly didn't want to handle him after that effort. You can have a box o' red cards and I wouldn't swap you. When I went to the marking there was a soft top Rolls Royce in front of me. I put my 3 birds on the table next to a baskett marked HRH Queen. A friend who is a National winner himself pulled along side in a new car. I got in my 12 year old car and sulked all the way home. An hours drive. Couldn't find either of them on the result though. What a buzz........ For me tiz all about 500mls on the day and I've not had one yet. Had decided not to come on here again as the argument to me is a bit like saying. I can only afford a Mini so why should you have a Rolls Royce..........

BE NICE TO HAVE A CHOICE HYACINTH

Makes sence Hyacinth. vinegar & lemon both acidic, but I use lemon on the food vinegar in the water. Thanks. Rarely treat cocci now still treat for worms and canker. Never used antibiotic. Put yoghurt on food occasionaly. Finding I no longer need to treat, sounds backwards but there you go. Birds that fly 5 & 600mls maybe don't need it ? Jack ? SHOCK HORROR I LET STRAYS IN TO TEST IMMUNITY. Now that sounds crazy but ?
-
Just wondering why you use lemon juice Hyacinth. I use cyder vinegar to keep the e-coli down also helps with YBS. Wonderd if lemon would do similar.
-
leave mine on all the time our dog used to stay away from that end of the garden, but she's no longer with us now
-
Keep it up Fred it gets easier after the first 10 years

I only know my son, he fly's in his own right sets clocks and is a great help. He's 13 and had his own birds for two years. Our local club allow greatly reduced membership, however, he is a member of NFC also MNFC and I have the pleasure of paying full fees for him.

Health is the main thing for me. ( The flying vet's Pigeon health management ) by Dr Colin Walker. Could save you a lot of heartache. worth every penny.

Started with Kirkpatricks and De weerdts in 75 these won from Thurso. More recently had some Spangles and a good variety since, having birds from five different National winning lofts. Trying to get some more Van den Plas at the min as they seem to be coming well for us. Good birds are found ?????????? you gotta lose a lott o' rubbish first. Even the best breed poor birds.
-
Note fair about pigeon racing. Able boddied vs dissabled.
-
treated for worms a month before pairing will treat for cancker when all eggs laid. birds go down for the second nest 10-14 days
-
Been down the road to watch the local rugger club, weather far more suited to rugger than racing. The birds can hatch their eggs first.
-
So call me stupid if you want to, but I still don't get it what is wrong with ETS. Since when has it been fair that a pensioner can turn up with three or four, you and me can turn up with 30 or 40. We all know people move house to get the best drop. I can't see that pigeon racing is more or less fair than any other racing. I am with Rose on this you gotta get 'em first, and it'll motivate me more too.
-
It aint for me either and I too would like to here from clockman, glad to agree with you Mike. I don't want to change my set up but I don't want to prevent someone with different idea's either. What's more I probably couldn't afford it
-
Mike sorry I still don't understand why you're so against ETS you must realise it will come in in our lifetime. [ I think I'm about 5 years older than you] As far as I can see it is only a matter of time, surely we've moved on from Toulet's this is the next logical step. Think of guys with PFL this would be a godsend, and we need all the members we can get. By the way I do realize you're in the majority, I just don't understand why.
-
Carol I gotta agree with ya. I seem to be making a habit of disagreeing with one member of this forum. However I have the utmost respect and admiration for him, but we have completely opposing opinions. I would be decidedly peeved if he felt it was personal, it's good we have different oppinions. Aint that what makes the world go round
-
Well I kind o' think they do better if it's dark. After all plenty of good distance pigeons in Scotland, and I don't know if they ever see sunlight up in the frozen north.
-
Yea I thought the same Rose. Would you like to come round and make some adjustments here, southbankhs
-
I don't understand all the fuss either Carol, and what you say is very interesting. But surely the point is you gotta get the birds first. In my club ETS would not have changed the result once. Only time it may have made a difference was when I was at work.

Plenty of fresh air will do no harm and the stall traps will help with PFL nice one
