  1. So Mike tiz a good idea to kowtow to the sprint men well I can tell you my birds have flown Lerwick and Tarbes and my MNFC rings can go in the bin cos there wont be any of our birds going on that transporter this year
  2. You don't have to dispose of many if you send to Pau. It's not just a way to get rid of rubbish, if you give 'em a fighting chance and get 'em, you can have a box full o' red cards and it means nothing. ultimate distance ultimate challenge unbelievable exhiloration
  3. Note wrong in a bird getting a lot protective. Sounds like the recipe for a win to me Silverwings. Nice one............
  4. Told ya before you worry too much. Hope they turn out ok for you
  5. Sorry Mike I have to agree with Dave Allen I think it's a sign of canker, and I would allways view these birds with suspiscion THE BAGGIES ARE GOING DOWN But then I just saw England France Oooooooops
  6. Blimey you lot are realy into colour why not just keep bringing in new young birds every year till you hit on the ones that suit you. I've got some lovely grizzle's from a Belgian national winning loft and they came well as young birds last year picking up cards on the way
  7. You're a bad influence Pecked hen I've been out and bought a white 'un
  8. Been to show not as I expected but none the worse for that. Like a mug came back with a couple of young birds. My only complaint! Too many sprint birds and a lack of distance strains but came back with a Delbar and a Jan Aarden. Hope it all happens again next year but bigger and better.
  9. Bruno's advice sounds good. Tell ya what though when you're finnished you stand back feel pleased then find what you wish you had done. If I were building now, top of the list of priorities would be stall traps and a way to put my baskett on the outside so I could drive young birds in rather than catch them.
  10. Have you tried it. I have a friend that uses it but I would think it's best used on a small number say 4 which is the number he has. I feel you may be right if you use say 10 birds. Be interested to know your results.
  11. Don't know about that one snowy last to pair in our club 10/11 March. Won longest young bird race last two years and returns pretty good bred 40 still got 19. Too many
  12. I'd sooner go to lier than blackpool but then what's the point in buying birds you may not get to race
  13. I also use 2.5ml of milton baby bottle sterrilizer in a drinker for a couple of days a week
  14. I have never had any trouble with harkers spartricks one tablet does the job
  15. I think we will only get limited inland racing and can't see us getting any young bird racing. My plan is carry on as normal but breed as few young birds as I can. Single young bird for each pair just before racing, as I can see most being culled. that's not something I relish.
  16. Shouldn't be any problems if both sets of birds are healthy some immunity will be inherited and some will be "fed" into them as it were by the feeders all birds carry their own micro-organisms which they have their own immunity to
  17. I haven't reared any yet and when I do I plan on rearing single youngsters only all I can say is best o luck
  18. ETS would be great but as we still live in the dark ages in England we find stall traps suit us best but it's just a personal thing
  19. well all I can say is the only thing wrong with those birds is the owner worries too much they look so good I am gonna print a picture of the fantail
  20. looks ok to me firm droppings food in its crop it'll be fine
  21. warwickshire fed due 3rd week in april but I never send hens or yearlings till may if you want 600 mls why send em early mine will always wait don' worry about the first couple of races if you want the distance " Rose seems to say all the right things for my point of view"
  22. I treat for worms every four to six weeks cancker every four weeks and cocci every four dip for lice twice a year alter treatments on a regular bassis never treat respiratory dusty bin being the cure if serious in the closed season if there is one don't treat
  23. just leave em till March then open the doors no problem only parted middle of Jan they'll soon settle
  24. I carefully file all pedigrees in a draw then forget them and if they breed young birds to do 200mls yearlings to 350mls two year olds that do 500/600mls then thats a pedigree and there's always room in the loft for 'em no matter where they come from or how much they cost
  25. cant tell you what to do but I can tell you I got my first bird from Pau (Tarbes) this year and it was three days before I could talk without getting all emotional clocked at 10/09/13 on second day this will stay with me for the rest of my life better than any win
