Erm, sorry to be thick but, wont they mate with the Logans and I'll end up with birds that cant fly well or home like the first ones I had? :-/

No, I'm not intending to race - not at the moment. There's no problem making them fly - they love it and are constantly taking off for twenty minutes or so. I cant shut the fantails in the dovecote, it would be cruel as they wouldnt have much room to move around. I guess it means they would have to be moved into a loft!

Thanks Westy and Snowy........tricky one this as the fantails are out on the roof all the time as they live in the dovecote. :-/ I cant see a way round it unless I bring the fantails in. :-/ :-/
  10. Thanks Roamer. I have four garden fantails and 17 white Logans. Westy, I have six squabs at the moment and all seems well - I'll post some photos soon - I know you want to see the baby from the Logans you gifted me.
  11. Great photos and lovely birds. The loft in the photo you call POVAI is incredibly clean.

They didn't! :-/ I've tried cutting the food right back and I mean right back but still they don't come when I call. It's back to the drawing board I think! I've been catching them, to put them out, so they are wary of me also, the fantails which live outside don't help because they all lounge around on my house roof together. Help guys, what do you think? Keep them in for a few days make sure they know the shaking tin means nosh time? Don't feed them at all for a day, see if they trap then? I'm finding this so hard. The neighbours don't mind at the moment but, it's only three birds. There are another six in the nest .....I'll have to crack it before they are out or there are going to be far too many and if they take to sunbathing on neighbours roofs then I think there will be complaints! :-/
  14. Hope he's ok. Give him out best wishes Linda. Sue
  15. I have some fantails this age - the wattles are still pinkish compared to the parents.
  16. How old are your fantails? If they are 3-4 months old then three weeks should be long enough to keep them in the homing cage. Don't remove the cage completely, just open it so that the birds can get in and out.
  17. NOOOO!! Don't overfeed him........you'll lose control!! ;D ;D

Thanks Bruno - can you just clarify for me though......do you let the birds out first thing, before feeding, then call them in for 'breakfast' then out again till the evening feed? Or, do you feed them before they go out for the day? Thanks
