i would say that about 2 out of ten make good birds but normally they are disposed of so they never get the chance to proove themselves we had a young cock that went missing in its second race then turned up a week after the last race but only because it was a full brother to several winners we gave it a second chance as a yearling it won a first prize and several other prizes and this year won the NORTH WEST CLASSIC CLUB so yes sometimes it does pay to give them another chance
-
stay away from it unless you have a mega problem and then only on the advice of someone in the know remember its the SILVER BULLET only to be used when all else fails cause once you have used this on your birds nothing else works

we like to use different brands of corn especially in the closed season we look at the different mixtures and select the one we think is the best quality and make up for us corn even from the top suppliers comes in different batches and are not always of the same standard its like buying fruit for instance you may go to the same market stall every week but some weeks the quality isnt as good so you go to the next stall be selective then it will make the suppliers try harder to sell you their brand of corn

we can only speak persoally in that we have never had 1 single problem with amtrak in over 20 years but a good friend of ours sent 6 birds off last week and they didnt arrive at the destination the next day after several phone calls they were located in a holding depot in birmingham and fortunatly one of the work force was a fancier and he looked to them until other arrangments were made
-
We have 6 hens free to anyone who is short There are old birds and young birds van reets and sootjens Most are prize winners just pay carriage or come and pick them up If you like you could make a small donation to pigeon basics
-
weve tried all methods to prevent hens pairing up but you always get the odd 1 or 2 that do mesh on the floor they still pair and egg falls through mesh so they start to pair again v perches or poles are one of the best ways but you cant keep them hungry while they are moulting but when the moult is over put them on a resting mix until a few weeks before pairing if they are only pairing and not laying they should be no bother when you introduce the cocks
-
for us its a break from racing routine and i think the birds welcome it to
-
for us its nantes 420 miles to our lofts a good day race even in a north wind
-
have paired up on full moon for many years now a old late pigeon friend told me that if you checked most of the champion racers in your loft they were bred on a moon mating
-
has it ever been prooved that cytacon does any good just wondering i am not disprooving
-
cloudview got a mate at last greattttttttttttt

lets be honest does everyone want all the birds that go missing returned to us yes obviously there are exceptions but we cant pick and choose going off the amount of birds we have reported to fanciers { which is all that wont clear on their own} there is about 5% that actually send for them packing up been in hospital oap cannot afford carriage would you like to keep it would you throw it up often not asking what condition the bird is in these are just some of the replies we get no wonder some fanciers think its a waste of time and cost of phone call reporting birds but we will continue reporting all birds that come in as its amusing to listen to the excuses rattled off by the so called bird lovers
-
i agree with whats been posted but an entire clearance sale means you cannot race or purchace rings in your name for 3 years it does not mean you cant keep pigeons for 3 years so if a fancier thinks he would rather keep a particular bird thats his right its better he puts a reserve on it than someone running it up off the wall at least you know where you stand and remember you only have to bid as much as you think its worth i personally have never had a entire clearance sale and think its up to the RPRA to alter the ruling if possible but this as i say could result in birds being run up off the wall

i got stung on my willy by one went to the chemist and asked them if they had anything to take the pain away but leave the swelling there
-
whether you give them 100% dark or not just make sure your ventilation is right
-
interesting thoughts if you seal the outside of the loft with a varnish based colour then you are sealing the timber so it cant breath from the inside so is counter productive a colour based water resistant stain is really the one you need if you are really critical
-
yes there are 2 sides to every argument i suppose some fanciers buy expencive strains so they can just say they have got one out of this or that some fanciers buy them for buisness purposes i would think most fanciers buy them to hopefully improve their stock with a view to racing their offsprings many fanciers have done extremly well with the m/d evans family with many nationals wins from their stock i personally have never had the beeles just because i am maybe from the old school never wanting to spend fortunes on birds as long as i can continue to win at club/fed open and classic level with a family that i have cultivated myself i will remain a happy man but good luck to those fanciers who by expensive birds because its their choice it would be interesting to know how the beeles have flown into the north west of england at national level just like to end by saying dont call them for buying expensive birds its their choice and remember there are thousands of other birds on offer for you to choose from
-
it may be their last SECONDRY flight that they are growing
-
yes the weather has got to be ONE of the governing factors but if all feds start to liberate early then we will be facing clashing like when they ars liberated later the RACE CONTROLLERS should be the ones to decide when they should go
-
marden and ian stafford van reets wildys and busschaerts
-
i personally think its always being a good day out plenty of stalls to get anything you want before pairing up time plenty of room one or two class sales etc we have stayed at blackpool for the weekend for over 25 years and will continue to do so its a great weekend but for a good day out the old comrades is fine and its supporting a good cause
-
no problem diamond the more ideas the merrier

hi im just wondering [ I DO A LOT OF WONDERING] if we could not get anyone on the forum to house the birds those of us wanting to enter could all send a bird to another one loft race and have our own race through duplication maybe pay a extra fee for prize money just wondering as i have never entered one and have no idea of the cost
-
you will get blue /blue cheque/mealy/red cocks and hens which any of them could have white feathering
