  1. cant agree with a lot of the posts so some of you are saying that if you purchased a team of birds that a fancier had culltivated and flew with great success over say 20 years that as soon as they enter your loft they are your strain/family well im sorry they arnt in my view as i like to give CREDIT where CREDIT is due one of the top studs in the world who buys a lot of top class families almost outright always uses the vendors name then sometimes uses their prefix along with the vendors strain/family we have in our own loft maybe 4 different strains/families of birds that fly successfully but if we cross some together in our view they are CROSSBREDS not our own family
  2. to be honest i think that most of the pigeon products that we have purchased over the years have been little help to our feathered friends and certainly no help to our pocket now its just compulsery vaccines /canker/worms /johnsons tonic and a good multi/vit and of course good corn its certainly sorts the WHEAT from the CHAFF
  3. do you mean thas birds
  4. lets get back to natural products then at least if they dont do any good they at least wont do any harm to the birds
  5. this is not directed at KARL but when is all this use of products going to stop there are at least 1000 products on the market that are supposed to make our pigeons stronger and faster which is BIG business for all the companys concerned YES a routine use of treatments for canker /cocci ?/worms and a follow up dose of multivits should be enough lets get real there is no magic potion for success its down to good pigeons and HARD WORK most of the products advertised are allready in the corn as i said at first this is not directed at KARL just my view of the sport in general MAYBE if we eased off with all the prop up remedys around we would find that a lot of the problems we have would stop
  6. we put them on a lighter mix until a week before hatching g mix
  7. regarding an injection from the vet i am sure they give them an HORMONE injection first injection 2 weeks before pairing and a second injection the week they are paired BELGICA de WEERD have the injection they recommend waiting until it warms up then phone them up and tell them when you are going to pair up and they will then send the injection as they like it to be as fresh as possible pills and potions that just make them randy are a waste of money as most older birds are randy but are starting to fire blanks
  8. if you put top /middle and bottom cross rails together then get your tri square and mark all three rails at the same time and using your tri square as the measurement for the distance in beetween each dowel then all pieces will be in line presuming of course the square is the none sliding one the measurement is approx 2inch
  9. yes a grinder will do the job but if you aint got one you could use a stanley knife but be carefull
  10. never really commented on ets before as i have no strong views one way or the other but i thought initially it was to aid the disaballed or so you could still clock a bird if you could not be at the loft to clock your birds but now it seems as though it is mainly for the big team sprint men because all you see is multi pads this and multi pads that soon we will be seeing adverts stating bird for sale finished 30th beaten by 29 loft mates in many cases there may be one word that sums it up GREEEEEEEEEED

  12. it may be that with only 6 inches gap at the back they could not screw and seal the cover strips on at the back would it be possible to drape a tarpaulin sheet down the back and secure it along the top beetween the roof and top of the back with a slate lath if not possible could use profile sheets and cut them to correct length then slide them down and again secure with fibre washered srcews if all fails you may need to either slide the loft out with the aid of jacks or take down and seal the back before putting the sides and roof on hope you can sort it out ps my daughter and son in law purchased a brilliantly made loft but the erectors NAILED it together
  13. maybe it would be better if you purchased a book or video with several fanciers and their methods on it then you could decide which one suites you

  16. use to use condys crystals in the bath water for the birds also when we removed the dew claws and docked the tails of our dogs we would crush the crystals into a fine powder and rub it into the flesh it cortorised the flesh and stopped it bleeding straight away it also cleansed the wound
