  1. Spoke to another club member last night he had only 40/76 ,but he was on holiday for last 2weeks and although his birds were being looked after and I think getting out ,got no training for those 2weeks ,but were well trained before he went .and remember del it was a near straight head wind and it wasn't a light one .
  2. He is that Jamie ,but haven't a clue about him ,he's a Celtic fan expletive remove .
  3. Returns at our club that I know of is 25/26 27/28 22/23 9/10 Other we're waiting on quite a few but not heard how they are now .
  4. Touched all of your hearts this did ,especially our family as this illness is what my dtr was told was wrong with my oldest grandson JACK ,and he would be dead by the age of 4 at latest .well how wrong they were although he's in a wheel chair that's him going to high school after summer holidays , they should have allowed little Charlie to travel and have the treatment way back and who knows maybe it would have gave him a better quality of life . RIP little guy .

You would think that yesterday was the very first warm day our birds have ever raced in ,yes some can dehidrate and go down till later get up and carry on . Don't think the heat had anything to go with losses yesterday .

So there is no comparison between swallows and pigeons then .

Think you will find they eat when flying so during their flight they will eat well and drink when flying too ,racing pigeons won't eat once let go till they home maybe 24/36 hrs or longer you can't run on empty .

Thanks John ,the guy I spoke to the other day said his test cost £460 ,another guy I've spoken to said he paid £300 odd quid and still came back Nill, an ex fancier friend from port Glasgow that still goes around lofts on Saturdays etc and still goes to Blackpool had a meeting with mr de weart (spelling) at Blackpool after the stalls had finished and asked him about about this (illness) he told him it's all over Europe and they haven't a clue what's causing it what it is or any such treatment . So with this info could this be one of the reasons for very bad returns ?

For IT to be out there no one has mentioned IT . I've been waiting to see if anyone else came out way something , spoke to a top pigeon man the other day , and he's went to being top dog to last or second last every week . With the same birds that were winning everything in his bit . So I know ITS out there .
  14. Or he can hit him way his stick lol.

Stuart ,there is also another thing no one has mentioned the dreaded virus/illness that's going about with none of the vets etc are finding in there samples sent , I've had it and no of plenty others out there that have/had it , birds looking brilliant flying well at home even in training ,but send them racing and it's a different story , I've had my birds exercise for 1 1/2 hours morning and night and would have done more if I didn't call them down ,from training points doing good times into head winds etc , sent them racing and their 25 mins to 1hr behind every week ,I stopped mine after 300 miles ,getting decent -/good returns most weeks . But I'm not one of those guys that just send them anyway ,if there not racing well then why send . I've a loft full of old birds just now and will need to clear some out to make way for this years young . I've been told it's all over the UNC and Europe . No one has a clue what it is . Is this why all the bad races ?

Well done John bell and m golfing buddy Vincent (shocking smith) and partner big Wullie Johnstone . And special mention to Wullie Strang winning section F . Brill mate . And all others in another terrible overseas race . Must be the worst year ever .
  17. Might be ,but why is it there are nearly always birds on time ,so does the atmospherics only affect a few ?or doesn't affect a few more like it .yes at most races quite a good % of birds aren't up to it or bred for it or right for it ,but the main race the gold cup and ancenis you would think that most would be right for the job in hand . Lots of empty doo kits about this year .
  18. Kev I've been lucky up till yesterday ,had brill trying out to 20 odd miles beating me home every time and not losing any ,that was until yesterday sent birds on transporter fk me one home then another after about 20 mins then all day right up till 20-45 last night and 2 down so got 21/23 and one home hawked ,it's not the sport of old ,it's getting harder and harder to keep going .
  19. I agree with you Steven but things have to be put forward ideas etc because status quo isn't working ,as for Ypres ,yes it wasn't great but prob the best overseas race in the snfc this season . The SNRPC let go 56 birds at near 600 miles and get great returns , DKJ quoted that they got help up the road with the unc going up 10 mins at their *expletive removed* ,same can't be said with the ansenis race up 10 mins in front of MNFC . Surely the members must look at going with the unc or doing what the SNRPC do /did for the sake of the pigeons .
  20. It's no use shooting it down Steven ,something needs to be done or there will be no overseas races soon , so we've not to lib mid day ,not race from Ypres line of flight what's the other options ? Yes the weather doesn't help .
  21. Start to wear a mask in loft big man . That should help a lot .
