the oldest i have is a cock at 15 bred by n. black and sons (dromore)and a 14 cock also bred by n .black .both still filling every egg last year hopefully next asa well.i also have some old stock at my mothers the youngest is 20 and have 5 still there over 20 one is 24 .this was 10 birds this time last year so dont hold out for many to still be there this time next year.ps my mum loves the doo's and cleans them out every day at 74 yrs young .

was at the annual presentation last night (been at it for years and years now) another great night with some great doomen top table were john hood jnr(milton of campsie) and ian lowe ( gartcosh) both have very good records at the distance but completely different ways of getting there , it was great talking after the quiz about some fanciers of old and the way forward for the sport .ps i never got home until after 2 am and wiz working today as weil.thanx again lads(south lanarkshire fed and the both guests) for a great night

i will donate a very well bred one for a very good cause. im not giving out many this year(no more than 10/12), nearly 30 last year,never again, put me under tooooo much pressure.

sorry colin but the way i work is to try and get facts before i post ,i can understand your frustration after a great year u automatically think you will win this and that ,but a certain fancier keeps getting fantastic results year after year and he keeps getting fancier of the year the way to stop it happening is beat him . ps its only my opinion im not taking sides here. i posted earlier, what was won by the winner ? and no one posted it up so i made a phone call to find out . still a great season and well done, hope u do better next year and win it on merit .yours stuart mullan

ive just been told that the winner of (fancier of the year central fed mr j.mcneill) had 67 fed tickets this year compaired to you colin with 37 is this true?

great flying colin ,but, would be interesting to see what the winner won and also what you won the rest of the season ?. oh and forgot to say i disagree with j.quinn if some fancier wins 10 x first fed and some one wins the averages just because he/ she goes to or times in ,in every race doesnt make them fancier of the year imo.

just gettin ready to watch the game on the telly , i hope for a teddy bears win even 1-0 ,but ot be honest its tooooooo hard to call ,both are playing with a desire to win every game . hopefully a great/clean game with no conspiracies from the losing team.

i have judged many a show over the years although i havent for a few now ,most/all of the above , but to me i am looking at what i want to take home or what would get a perch im my loft so to speak , i give one tick for one that is all ok clean no bad frets nice in the hand with no or nearly no faults , two ticks for one that is very good , and three ticks for the perfect pigeon, with no faults and what i what in my own loft . the one thing i cant abide is lice on pigeons at shows ,in my view they are out no matter what . i have been to a very good quality show where it is quite hard to pick out the winner ,but i have also been to shows that i have picked the winner right away when the quality is poor.

might have a wee go at the shows this year ,i used to show a naw bad doo, i miss all the sheite thats talked at the shows , but honestly its gid banter . might be about 40/1 might have about £2.00 each way on masel.

i agree jock.( long distance club) but drop a channel race (ypres or clermont or falaise)but also drop the inland kiddy on races.the watch the birdage go up for the other 3 races .

yes your right frank but i know if it was me and i won the gold cup but someone in the convoy beat me then (fk that)? as far as i can say you would always have some smart ar$e bringing it up you won the gold cup but didny win the race .better leave the gold cup as it is members only ,but do something to up the birdage (see what race or races are hurting the entry and sort it) .

i would think it would all depend on the race the week before john ,an easy race then in u go but a hard one could put them back. i also dont think having an inland national the week before the big one affects the entry ,last season was a bit of a dissaster especially in the west with lots of losses in the fed programs ,bad races in feds equates to bad entries in the nationals imho. great derick but could you imagine someone not dublicating having a higher velocity than the winner of the coveted gold cup ?

i dont think the average cup means anything (well not anymore) as others have said u could win 9/10 races and get a disaster and not be lucky enough to get one and the guy that has been using a callander to time in( is lucky enough to get a bird ) wins the average cup , the fairest way is a points trophey and like jas's feds way is fairest of all in my opinion , oh and jade i have won club and fed averages more than most . the way i do it now is either dont send one race or dont go with my clock one race and then i dont have to send because im winning/leading the averages, because good birds get lost chasing averages. PS NATIONAL AVERAGES IS A DIFFERENT ANIMAL .
