Had a few over the years,one that sticks out was a German cock tried alsorts to get him home,I couldn't loose him,bred some good distance birds for me.Got one at the moment hope he makes the grade,done first five races for me never out of first four to the loft,will try his youngens next weeks first race. I've just been scratching my head trying to remember a product we used a lot of years ago when my late uncle raced greyhounds,after taking the splinters out of my fingers i remembered it's name. IGLODINE.This in my opinion was one of the best products on the market at that time great for use on kids as it didn't sting and had no smell,healed and hardly left a scar( cuts and bruises).I don't know if it's still on the market but if it is, it's one no fancier should be without. I don't like using creams on pigeons,dampen some cotton with witch hazel and dab it on the damaged parts, they'll heal ok on their own.JMO Lindsay

Hi Paul,keep taking the tablets mate and get some extra when the youngens start.It makes you wonder why pigeons do that .Usually the first one can be a bit stupid but the following birds for some reason seem to know it's safe and trap like bullets.My last old bird race I genuinely lost fifteen minutes with the first bird ,he's not the best at coming in,just about caught every race he's been to.The others when they finally landed would have knocked you over if you'd been in their way. I have couple with broken legs,they are broken where the foot joins,if the leg is broken further up,cut a larger size drinking straw to the length required and split one side,they make an ideal splint.If the ring leg is broken slide the straw under the ring,as sapper say watch out for any swelling.
