that was also how i learned to tell if a hen would lay the next night or that night or would not lay in three days at the earlyst and im never wrong if my good cocks hen was going to lay on basketing night he was spot on if you hold a hen and you cant feel anything when you press gently against her vent she will not lay for at least two days if you can feel a round mass she will lay the next day and if you can feel the hard point she will lay that night once you get a bit of practice its 100 per cent correct the only time i got it wrong the hen i was checking had a round mass of internal canker but when the mass had not changed to a hard point by the next day i knew something was not right try it with your eggy hens its a handy thing to know just push your finger gently but firmly on or just below her vent handle the same hen every day when you see the cock walking be hind her and you will feel the different stages the hen goes through from nothing there to swollen with round mass to sharp point and laying and you will never be caught out with your hens laying in the basket unless there in the basket more than two days

thats a must for me del as i am not making money so this may be my last year of having a big team m8 as i will not be able to afford to keep them so might be selling at the end of season and it will break my f k g hart the money ive spent on them thirteen thousand to louella to build this team and the work i have put into them its making me sick just thinking about it plus nearly 700 pounds at kerr stainthorpes to cross them to get the old west section distance blood into them but ive not regreted spending one penny of of it the pleasure i got out of them has been great plus they have won me back nine grand in pools and prize money to date andi have 16 pair of stock birds that have bred 68 firsts between them with 14 first west sections fed and over 20 national diplomas so ive had my fun with them but it wont make it any easier for me m8

ive scored in every eastbourne national ive flown in george with yearlings and have a very good record in our fed longest inland race maidstone wincanton salsbourgh with yearlings but i was trying to find them out now that i know the ones that are breeding them and that they can do it i wont be so hard on them but any off new matings go every race to the coast and if i thought a yearling was right id send it across the water but thats if you can afford to lose it if its your best yearling you might want some youngsters off it first m8

just in from work and my two latebreds are home both are banged up but not to bad so im all home think the late breds have done enough ill stop most of them thats them had 40 tosses and 4 races started with 18 lost one to percy 17 left make good birds for next year or send to the comeback race later in the year but i have far to many cocks so might keep a few going anothere week or two but there bred from my best birds so worth putting bye have to have a think about it
