  1. Good luck to the remainder
  2. I had 1 from the 46th open Pau Cock when paired with a hen that won the section from Nantes [ From 15th x 7th Pau pair ], he left 1 or 2 usefull pigeons.
  3. Michael, how high would you rate Ch W/F Cock [ 15th Open Pau ] x Blue W/F Hen [ 7th Open Pau ] as a breeding pair ? As from what I have seen, going through pedigrees of the Fox pigeons they feature in virtually every pigeon.
  4. Yet another excellent piece of work by Lewis McCalley
  5. Robert Strachan at 4th open with his great hen "Tayside Princess" - following season she was 3rd open
  6. What an image and some thrill for the fanciers involved.
  7. Narrows it down a bit Ch W/F - either Dream Girl or Glory Girl ??? one was a Grizzle the other Ch W/F both of which won Nantes ???? Blue ???
  8. I think the Blue could be a Welsh pigeon, perhaps called "Little Gem " ????? Ch W/F not got a clue
  9. First class article on a top distance loft.
  10. Thanks for posting. Makes for interesting reading. It's always been a difficult trophy to win, but seems to be getting even tougher these last few years. Good luck to everyone competing for it in 2014, and let's hope we get a winner of this prestigious trophy.
  11. Would be interesting to post the list of winners, if possible.
  12. Exceptional
  13. Did Norman Orr, and the late Hugh Brown, win LSC gold cup 3 times each also ?
  14. Excellent article on one of Scotland's greatest fanciers.

I am looking at the SNFC Rennes result , 1961 and the distance stated for the winner J & P Dora is 585 miles, 1336 yards. It would appear the distance shown in the SNFC year book is incorrect ??

  17. Great article
  18. Another great read, well done Rooster
  19. Robert suffered from polio and had difficulty with his hands. When timing pigeons on race days, he had a metal hook he used to get the rubber ring off the birds leg. Quite often the rubber ring would spring off the metal hook into the straw on the loft floor. One such instance occurred at a Rennes race, when a bird arrived on the day, and Robert lost about 20 minutes trying to find the rubber ring amongst the straw [ I believe it was the race Fallahill Superstar won ]
  20. Noticed Robert Strachan, Invergowrie mentioned with his Blue Pied Hen, " Tayside Princess " to be 3rd open. She was 4th open the previous season from Rennes. Robert was an amazing fancier, being confined to a wheelchair, his management and control of his birds within the loft was quite something. Many fanciers in the Tayside area owed their success to the Strachan bloodlines.
  21. Would agree with you Alec, Fechan Lass.
  22. Cornish Supreme
  23. There to fight another day
  24. Must have been a great thrill for Billy Erwin to clock this hen so late in the evening.....what dreams are made of He also bred a good pigeon for Eric Fox & Son, Bakewell -- Blue W/F Hen - 7th open Pau and she went on to breed numerous birds to score at the distance.
