7 training tosses this week up to twenty mile, yesterday released and got home not a feather! first birds arrived 1half hour later then the rest stayed out, next morning all back with one tail and wing feathers missing, claw holes in the breat meat, So looks like they got unlucky that last toss and got hit hard. in my experiance that bird is usless now as it will never race after being mauled like that.

Not sure if concentrating on getting young people involved is the right way to go as the amount of time needed and resources to win is very high, I think we should be looking for new members in the late 20's or 30's once they are settled down and looking for something to do in their spare time, I started with Pigeons at the age of 32 after keeping budgies etc (never handled a pigeon before) and its the best hobbie ive ever had, I think its very difficult to get new members involved but the fancy really needs to look out of its bowl of hereditary fanciers to survive, they are out there but we just gotta find em.
