Hi all around what date are the NEHU rings distributed to fanciers, and what colour do you think they will be this year ?? my guess is that they will be yellow, as they seem to follow the previous years R.P.R.A ring colour. best wishes sharron

Hi pete, regarding the N.E delivery it would depend on how many birds each fancier is receiving, as amtrak charges £25 online booking or £30 over the phone, and thats for up to 4 birds, So in my case if you send me the 2 kirks and 2 chocs my quota is fullfilled But for those only receiving 1 or 2 birds it would be a good idea to chip in and have them sent to one house, or even go to the depot in seaham and pick up direct. Only an idea. going off at a tangent here im sure when you order 6 from louella they used to all come together in one big box, and when i sent a lot of 6 squeakers down south via amtrak this year they all went inone big box, but i dont know how much amtrak charged as it was all arranged at the other end, maybe its cheaper than the 4 bird in individual boxes deal ps i will send my rings on when i receive them.

hi im going to have 2 rings worth, i missed out last year and i left left out lol ;D really novicy question here but as its a special ring can birds with that ring on only race in the Futurity race, or can you put them in the normal YB race programme too ?? or do people usually treat wrap them in cotton wool and save them for the big day ?? also is it normal to keep your bred birds or do you stick em in the breeder/buyer sale? thanx in advance p.s were do you get the form ? from your club or is it in the BHW ?? if so what issue was it in ???
-
oh yes please paulo id forgotten about that, that would be fantastic, redfox i have no intention of adding rubbish as if the birds dont earn there keep in either racing or breeding they dont stay simple as that i just fancy trying out something new and id like something pleasing to the eye lol ;D sharron

a dropper is normally fancy or crossbreed pigeon, which either has its wings clipped or is very tame so it doesnt fly very far away from the loft, so on race days when the racing pigeons are due back from a race, pigeon fanciers place these droppers either outside the loft so the race birds can see them or they throw one up into the air when a race bird comes close, in order to entice the race bird home into the loft faster so its race ring can be removed and timed into the clock, they are very useful for trapping youngbirds as they feel safe when they see the dropper and happily follow it into the loft. hope you this helpful, if anyone can add anything else feel free

Hi im looking for either a True pair of coloured racers or 2007 youngbirds, in either of the following colour variations (Red pied,Mealy,White, Chocolate aka ressesive red or true black) all of my team are blue/check pouw janssens and i fancy adding a splash of colour to my race team they must be decent flying stock (not lawn ornaments, as i do intend on racing either them or there produce) in return id be willing to swap for either my young hen which is a direct G child of de rappe (see my other swap post or PM for info) or a pair of 2007 pouw janssen youngbirds.

Hi just thought id post this pic i found of me with my childhood tumbler type pigeons, they were my 7th birthday present (to keep me away from the race team) The hen in the lowest box is my golden oldie who only passed away this oct aged at least 24yrs. and the unfortunate creature im man handling is her husband who is about 17 now and still a dropper for the race team. ;D As you can see i was thrilled with my prezzie, tho i can imagine the poor birds were horrified ;D i dont handle my pigeons like that these days lol sharron

Hi upon observation my hunch was proved correct the bird in question is a young hen ;D -
thanx jimmy, as i race natural with the OBs when would you recommed pairing them so they keep a reasonable set of feathers for racing ?? Also at the min i still have the cocks + hens together (with no acess to nestboxes/perch acess only) when should i split them off ?? Ps your pieds are doing fine, i never did get any 2006 youngens from them, but im looking forward to 2007 sharron

Hi schouwman71, as far as i can tell its a young hen, i certainly havent seen it displaying, But im not 100% sure, so cannot garentee gender i will spend some time tommorow spying on it while i clean the loft, as to be honest im so busy with university iv barely given it a thought, until tonight when i saw the swap section, and thought that someone else might desire it. as i said id accept almost anything for it, be it another janssen whos lines i dont have, or a new strain to try out or even something interestingly coloured all mine are blue/blue cheq or blue pied. or failing that anything pigeon related but please no videos i have too many lol, or rings as i dont collect em ;D -

Id like to swap one cheq janssen 06 rung latebred (hatched out late august) parents can be seen and would supply pedigree if required and transfer it over. The bird in question is a direct Grand child ov DE RAPPE and GEELOGER 128 via the sires side. it is also Grand child ov Jonge poot (combining De Gerbroken poot and jonge vechter lines) and a G.G child of de rappe when paired to geeloger 128 on its dams side So de rappe/Geeloger 128 appears twice in the pedigree. Feel free to e-mail me for a full pedigree at shazzipops1986@aol.com the only reason im giving it up for swap is that it has never seen the outside of the loft (i made the mistake of letting it get too big), and i still have the parents, so it isnt required as stock. Full sister won Club O.B national for me this year. i dont have the time to anchor it to my loft as i can always breed again from the parents for my race team. But i thought rather than have it done in, id offer it hear in the hope that someone may want it. So feel free to offer me something in exchange ;D

Hi other than routine compulsary vaccination for PMV, what other things do you treat for routinely throughout the year if anything ? im sure the only thing dad did was vaccinate and worm, but iv been told by a fancier in my club that i must also treat for canker and cocci, id always thought this was up to the individual fancier to decide if they wanted to treat for this ?? what are the pros/cons to routine preventitive treatment ?? thanx in advance sharron

Permenant address rings R.P.R.A stype
Keepsmilingqueen replied to Keepsmilingqueen's topic in Racing Pigeons
Im rather grateful Redcheqhen flies with NEHU like me, or id have tried them in 2007, bred loads of youngsters and not been able to race a feather lol. it seems daft that R.P.R.A allows them and the NEHU doesnt, after all what harm can they do, they only help reunite lost pigeons back with fanciers quickly + directly. :B -
Thanx for all the replies so far, looks like it may turn out far better than id anticipated they may even get more flying time than usual ;D it just seemed such a shame when i would be going there anyway, not to put the basket in the car and take them for the ride as many of you have said it may even enhance there performance by getting them to think. another small query, the car park is about 10mins from the city centre were there are loads of ferals infact in gereral everywhere i look in newcastle there are ferals, will they drag my race birds down into town or will my birds get away ok ???
