  1. Here are the 2 feather footed tumblers i use as my droppers, ;D They are both old age pensioners at least 10yrs +, They are my personal loft pets lol they trap like little bullets both thru the stall traps and open door, and they often come in handy for floating eggs under. (they are currently sitting upon my Janssen X staf van reet experiment eggs Pic above shows them last year out with the youngbirds and this is the cock bird sitting in his box showing off his feathery legs ;D

  5. i dont think MBpigeonguy means that they wear them all the time, i think they will have just been put on for the photograph, if its anything like horse winners blankets when they will have the name of the race and the year they won it embroidered upon it

  12. thanx for all your replies iv floated the eggs under my tumblers that i use as droppers they had conveniently laid at the same time and i shall see what comes out ov em, you never know it may be the best thing iv ever done, there could be a combine winner inside lol ;D best wishes sharron
  13. :owhat a bloody nightmare it bad enough paying to get your own strays back never mind someone elses rubbish, whats to be gained by ringing a bird with someone elses ring, if your found out you could be thrown out of your club for racing strays. two of my nehu rings 07 SHOT 1376 and 07 SHOT 1377 got lost in the post, and id be livid if they turned up on e-bay or worse still with a bird attached reported to the union ;D but i can safetly assume they are lost down a royal mail sorting machine ;D
  14. Sorry cant help with the rings, but do you really ring birds with em soontjen or are you having us on ??? Sounds kinda funny, ;D
  15. Hi all, i shall appologise in advance for asking yet another seemingly basic and very novicy question (but iv never had to deal with this side of pigeon care before) Anyway my question is i was going to vaccinate my stock birds (as there previous vaccination history is unknown and i worry about them being left unvaccinated when they have accsess to an outdoor aviery) and it says on the vaccination instructions 1stly NOT to vaccinate during lay, NOT to vaccinate during time of mating and NOT to vaccinate breeding birds unless previously vaccinated. Now my stock birds have all layed and are sitting eggs of about 12 -16 days and i know for a fact they will have been vaccinated at least once in there lifetime as a youngbird but from then on i very much doubt they have been. Should i avoid vaccinating these birds ?? they seem healthy but i dont like them being at risk from PMV. plus i use the same scraper, muck bucket and loft coat for all lofts so surely there must be some cross contamination thanx again sharron
  16. i hope it clears up for you, id be very interested to know what caused it when you find out
  17. Hi all i have a spare janssen hen and she has paired up with jimmy whites staf van reet cock in addition to his own hen (there is only the 3 of them in that section so it cant be anyone else) anyway this spare hen has gone down on eggs, the question is should i let em hatch and see what happens or is Janssen X staf van reet an absoulute NO, will these youngbirds be useless oppinions apprechiated all the best sharron
  18. did you take that info from one of the old hand publications expat1 as i have a method almost idential in an old hand book about establishing strains iv never tried it tho ;D maybe in the future
  19. thanx rosebowl sorry for hijacking your post, im just interested in any theories behind why they collect other pigeons ;D
  20. is there something special about these theif pouter cocks, that makes them more appealing to pigeons or something becouse racers dont go out and collect strays ;D :B
  21. hows the ring collection comming along ???
  22. hi mac have you tried contacting pigeon pete as he is sending me kirkpatrick youngbirds to try as part of his generous free youngbird offer on the birds for sale section ;D best wishes sharron ;D

  24. :B i think iv just opened a whole can of worms *gulp* anyway thanx for all the replies i sent off the transfer in question yesterday compleate with my £1.50 cheque and 2 stamps as requested, i just hope they deal with it as prompty as they delt with it when i hadnt included the transfer fee lol all the best sharron
  25. never mind mac she might turn up yet, strangley enough a fair few birds get reported early in the ob racing season *cough* after less honest fanciers have bred a round off them (tho why someone would want to breed from a stray i have no idea) but it may be esspecially tempting if the bird in question is a bonny looking one, and your grizzles are certainly that
