  1. Thanks for the birthday wishes guys. couldn't wear my crocodile shoes, Alex Dickson from Aberdeen has them on loan
  2. Put me down for a y/b for this worthy cause. I will drum up some more from my fellow club members. cheers Stuart
  3. I do the clocks in our club and we always open at 6pm unless it is a longer race when we will do them later or wait till next morning. Far better waitng on every bird as well as enjoying the day of the race and also enjoying the banter at the club.
  4. Ian deserves all the thanks, he hardly sat down on the bus making sure we were all fed and watered. He had everthing down to a tee, even had menus printed. Fantastic job Ian. Looking forward to next year already. The hotel was excellent also. A great success all round
  5. Would it be possible for somebody to post a map with a straight line from say Liege to the centre of each section. I.M.O. I Can't see how being measured almost entirely over the north sea gives a truer distance in relation to what the pigeon actually flies. I know the late George Ritchie put up a great performance in the north section from Liege in 2001, taking the first 3 in the section with 3 good open positions starting at I think 57th?,, the national was also won in Carnoustie...so obviously a fair amount of sea was flown over for them to do so well but I think on most occasions the birds will take a shorter crossing and come up the east coast which I think will disadvantage the guys in the west also even though they would have a better distance. To me a straight line down through the Cherbourg peninsula, distance wise to me here in the north, shortest channel race - 600mls, Gold Cup race 620-650mls with the longest race around the 700 mark. As fair as possible for EVERY fancier is all I ask. Nevertheless whichever racepoints are chosen I will send as you will never win with no birds at the race.
  6. Handy for the SNFC birds if we go to Liege
  7. Totally agree
  8. Put me down for 2 youngsters Ian, Irvine Buchan 1 youngster, Chris Donaldson 1 youngster Thanks Stuart Quick head count :D Ian
  9. Not long back from this show and must say it was a roaring success Hats off to Robbiedoo and the rest of his helpers. Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Robbiedoo's dedication, not only for his own pigeons but also his dedication to the sport in general is second to none and if each club had a member like Robbie in their midst we would be in a far healthier position. Well done again Robbie ;)

  21. Ours has to be our Blue cock Janssen x van Loon, he wouldn't exercise at all, just a couple of circles and down on the loft roof, at training he never even circled with the kit and was always first bird back to loft. He had all races out to the Leicester national and took the following positions, 1st club, 6th fed Consett 183 miles; 6th club 14th fed Ripon, 234 miles; 3rd club, 19th fed Brechin, 63 miles and finally in the SNFC Leicester race, 340 miles he took 7th Region G, 27th open. His dam was bred by Wuldon and was part of the Joe Murphy young bird exchange last year.
  22. Got another 4 yesterday, 8/12 for me, well pleased. How they came in that rain yesterday is beyond me.
  23. Got my 4th one at 17.55
  24. Clocked at 16.10 and another 2 at 16.20, 340 miles :D over the moon
  25. Just about to kick off a good weekend, 12 birds away to y/b national, 23 away to club race. I am now just about to leave for the launch and naming ceremony of the new Trawler "Golden Sceptre" for the West brothers of trawlerman fame, then tomorrow my little sis gets married, hopefully this will be finished off with an early one in the SNFC Young bird national, lets hope for a slice of luck
