  1. I see strongish westerly winds forecast for much of the weekend.
  2. I have one in Ireland racing from Leicester. That was a very fast race in an east wind.

Wouldn't like to clean your cage in the morning
  4. A lovely well reared healthy pup. I wish I were in the market for a dog

    Reds and Mealies

My best stock hen was a red. I could never keep the reds from her but I mated them with dark birds and normally scored with the chequer youngsters. I had formed the opinion they may be the preference of BOP but have no proof.

When fanciers send their best birds to a race like this they really deserve better care.
  7. Has it been proven that this clears worms if poured on. I was once told by a prominent Vet that it would only clear worms if ingested---i.e. swallowed.
  8. I agree entirely. Well said
  9. Taking into account the loft location and prevailing wind on the weekend of the race it was the performance of the year into Scotland.
  10. I have a youngster with part of the wattle hanging off. It also has an injury to it's chest. I thought it had a narrow escape from a BOP and that was what caused the damage.
  11. I attended Doncaster last year and found it to be much smaller than Blackpool. The Venue is good and you have more peace to look round. If I lived in the area I would attend again this year but don't think it's worth the almost 600 mile round trip.
  12. I felt exactly as you did when I read the article last week. Well written. Yes I think the RPRA has lost the plot.
  13. Maybe we should just hold an Eyesign Show every Friday night to select Saturday's winner. We all have a few pints---take our birds home and no losses on Saturday.
  14. It's not difficult to get to some of the sales from where he lives. There will always be people going and he will see what he is buying. There is no need to buy birds from 300 miles away.
  15. Why not attend some of the sales run by clubs and buy there. I am sure most of the birds offered will be better than anything you see advertised. No transport costs involved and you can have a day out in great company.

    ANDRAZEL.

Definately a big well done. Couldn't say that last night as I was locked out.
  18. Yes it is a cheek and probably has no foundation. Let's be truthful the real secret is to stop them taking it in the first place.
  19. Bob, I understand how you feel and would make no attempt to change your mind. However I will say that I retired about a year ago and that, without my pigeons, I would have found the days---especially in winter very difficult. We all need an interest to keep us going and pigeons fill the void for many people. You need something to get you out of bed in the morning and knowing that the birds are dependant on you is all the motivation I need. Think very carefully before you take any decisions.

Oh my not a good advert for themselves or the sport. I do know that the mechanism for online auctions can lead to confusion between vendor and buyer if the person running the auction does not communicate effectively. However these problems should be willingly overcome.

No need to apologise. Vincent's comments were more accurate than most on here.
  22. The race control team can only do their best with the hand they are dealt. There are weekends when we all know that the race is likely to be a poor one but we continue to send. The solution lies in the constitution of the clubs. They must have a more flexible approach to give the race controller and ultimately the birds a fighting chance. How quickly would any of us run 100 yards after being shut in a telephone box for 5 days subjected to high temperatures, fighting for water and having the incorrect food offered to us. Always during Wimbledon there is a significant threat of thunder. We should work round this.
  23. I would have thought that any grain merchant in your area would have pigeon electrolytes. I think those available from the chemist for human consumption should be ok.---not the use of should.
  24. Great stuff Harry
