    pipe

Pipe would be a bad bet. Just put yourself on a depurative diet.
  3. I wonder what ficticious propaganda the RSPB will release to deflect attention from this. Sadly this event should have been published in the National Press and on any anti RSPB web sites.
  4. Gillette and razor blades springs to mind.
  5. I saw a couple of rings being delugged tonight using a nail clipper and stanley knife to trim them. Sandpaper if required. Yes there is a risk of water ingress.
  6. Just look upon this as motivation to whack them at every race next year. Federation and National results will not be obscured.
  7. To evaluate any product or any change to your system it is necessary to also have a control batch of pigeons. Divide the team in 2 keep one on the old method and introduce the other to the new system then compare results. However they may be clouded by the quality of bird in each team. I believe there are Body Building products which would help condition pigeons but we would need to understand what we were trying to achieve, what product would help us towards this, what dosage and when to use them. Best just stick with what we know. Oh and by the way forget the whey protein---I have been taking this for a couple of years now and I am still a 7 stone weakling.
  8. I firmly believe that the ETS rings should be sold through the unions. If we do this we control the price of the rings and also dictate whether or not we are prepared to use their system. The entire thing was rushed through without thought----just like the new life rings. While at Blackpool show this year I noted that Harkers who make Hormoform were selling it for a higher price than Barnsley Lofts who were directly across from them. Funny old world.
  9. Hatching after 2 weeks is outwith my experience but as you say may be due to being egg bound. My feeling is the youngsters will be of little use as racers but I would be tempted to let them survive simply to see how they do.
  10. Absolutely correct horses for courses. The east birds have the wind up their *expletive removed* every week and only need one eye to follow the coast home. When the wind is against them they seldom return home at all. However well done in sidetracking the thread with your windup.
  11. Some families have them and others don't. Whike I had a lovely Porter and Richardson pigeon with these which bred 3 several handy birds I also have better breeders which don't have tusks.

    GIVING UP NOW

should he not have informed the Police and allowed them to make the enquiries? Are there many Eastern Europeans in the area?
  13. The vet college would have been Scottish Agricultural College at Auchincruive. I believe they do preliminary work there and then send samples to Penicuick Diagnostics. I believe that to be the name but cannot be sure. It's a long while since I used the service. I believe they like to have the carcus as fresh as possible---actually they prefer a living bird.
  14. Yes as far as I am aware. I think he sends them off to somewhere in the Edinburgh area. I have no idea of cost.
  15. I agree with this dosage. I also agree that Flagyl is an antibiotic but when being used to treat canker we are not primarily using the antibacterial properties so this dosage is correct.
  16. Joe was a good guy with a heart of gold
  17. There were many good fanciers in Lochwhinnoch. Mulligan of Champion Susan fame, Jimmy Manders, Willie Love, Willie Holmes, The Wylies, Adam Train, Alex Vallance Last but by no means least was the Beith man who showed them the way home---Wee Joe Aikman. He and I were good friends as teenagers and often drank the falling down liquid together on a Friday evening.
  18. I really don't know if Harry is still alive or even if he still has pigeons. I agree he would be about 90. I had birds from him in 1980 --I still know their ring numbers. I would have guessed he was over 60 then. I wonder if any of you who visited him saw the paintings of pigeons in a small hut. There was some story attached to them.
  19. It's all designed to improve your IT skills
  20. A very mediocre barrister could rip these rules apart
  21. Welcome back Mungo.
  22. The case may depend on the exact wording of the RPRA rule. If it only mentions "the loft" and not "the loft the birds are racing to" then it is open to interpretation.
  23. Just a thought is that it is normally easier to break birds on a bad day than a good day. After you have them back try letting them out when it is raining heavily. They tend to hang about in wet weather.
  24. All ets rings should be sold through the governing bodies and registered against a loft. The governing bodies would then be in a position to tell the manufacturers how much we are prepared to pay for these rings. I an certain they will cost less than 10 pence to manufacture. As I have said before Gillette don't make money selling razors----they make it from the ongoing sale of blades.
  25. Harry Mc Harrie had birds from Peter Kitching----I believe they had been friends for years. He also had birds from JJ Horn and directs from George Busschaert. I was fortunate that my mentor was a gentleman called Bob Jamieson from Lochwhinnoch who had been a long term friend of Harry. Bob introduced me so I had as good as Harry had.
