Your right about the imunity but wrong about not wanting ferels removed! They do have high imunity because they have adapted to there surroundings but do still suffer from common ailments as do our racers. The biggest problem is they are what the public see and perceive as being racing pigeons which is why our prized racers are also seen as flying rats! If fanciers were allowed to carry out pest control around town centres our birds would have a much better reputation!

Not only a case of putting the effort in but building a team of birds that will fly into your area. Try and obtain the right stock or youngbirds, educate them well and then test them, don't throw them away though as many do!

There was a great flyer at Buckhurst Hill called Sunny Wood, his loft wouldn't have been any bigger than that and again there was no room for anything else. I didn't know him until the early 90's but prior to that he was the man to beat and I beleive taking 2nd LNRC 3 times only ever sending a few birds. These are the kind of fanciers the sport was built on, no room for sentiment or duds.

its clearly had the brain to work home, and if has original rubber on etc prob has been out, give it a chance but if it does it again then its got a 2nd home and will dip out whenever the going gets tough, then bin it.
