I went to varify a Classic section winner one evening to find the fancier topping up all his rung youngsters in the nest with water, something he said he done every evening to stop them dehydrating in the night!

The following 4 birds came from John Bingham. The first 2 were bred by Kenny Bald, the third by Page Bros and the fourth bred from a pair obtained from Dennis Webb, The starting price is £30 each with increments of £5 please. I've got some but not used it yet but a friend had told me that it took his a long time to regain the condition and protection from the wet.

The blokes a prat, clearly tells you on the label not to use on the birds and it even tells you to remove the birds from the loft! I've heard that Chlorcarb strips all the oil off the feathers and the next time they get wet they just get water logged like a sponge, is this your experience with it?

The best picture was when SPC turned up at the front door with a pigeon box in his hand and I gave him a dog in a crate! His face was a picture!

I think you'll find a lot of fanciers wean there youngbirds away onto deep litter etc and don't clean them out, I know I don't as the youngbird build up natural imunity. The main thing is for the loft to be bone dry, any damp will cause problems!

It is in this weeks book but I think they've got a cheek charging what they are to allow you to sell 6 birds etc! If they are going to charge you for sale pens, then fine sell you a block of pens but then once you've paid for them if you wish top them up once birds have been sold etc.

I don't think they will go into a body moult with the youngsters, but like others would be interested to know. My concern would be connected to the wing moult and how far they get this year. If they hold 3 old flight/ nest flights then when they throw the first flight next year they are likely to throw the 8th as well which wouldn't be ideal for racing!

I think thats what i would have done to reduce risk of cocks going to wrong box and fighting with the bird next door!

ETS, should be excepted especialy if in a club where all members use ets. Only ones should be removed are those with phone number on them!

When my first two went to nursery I used to go and help occasionaly, it was great fun for a couple of hours a week.

That often happens! Back in the late 80's when I was asked to judge at the Monmouth open show at Pontypool I had been doing a lot of winning with a blue hen. At that time I was relatively unknown as I didn't do that many shows but the class I was judgeing had a very high proportion of blues in it, why because fanciers thought that was what i liked as that was the colour they associated with me when in fact I only had the 1 blue in the loft!
