  1. put the birds in a show pen etc before you put them in the box. If you take them straight from the loft or basket they will always make a mess.
  2. prob best place for it, "sandwiched" or bread "binned"!
  3. if this is an ets trap, where does the pad go?

    racing

yes Chris, If i was you and you are building for the future you still need to test and train what you have. Although you may not be able to competitavly race you can still work your birds and give them an education to put them on the right footing for the future. Phil
  5. its all a bit of fun but think the RPRA is the fairest around. The RPRA can't afford to get involved in anything that isn't run by the book.

  7. from what i have heard they need treating with care as youngbirds, just give em a couple of races and then push them on as yearlings and 2yr olds.

    doncaster fair

a few years ago there were no fairs, now we've got the midland fair, Doncaster, Welsh etc. Great for the members that don't go to Blackpool etc but its getting to saturation point.

    bet its a louella ring!
  15. I beleive its all down to the constitution and make up of the bird. Within the same family of birds you will get some that are better at different distances. When did you last see a muscle bound marathon runner and when did you last see a skinny bag of bones winning 100meters?
  16. An open fronted loft is fine with good ventilation at the back to allow a good air flow but hav a good overhang at the front to prevent the loft getting wet.
  17. swab test will show any bacterial infections, as you say it appears to go away while doseing them but returns when they stop meaning the treatment isn't correct. Swabs will allow cultures to be grown where effective treatments can be identified to prevent the problem returning.
  18. no problem in being in as many different organisations as you wish or as many different partnerships as you like. Just make sure the right birds are registered to the right names and the right addresses!
  19. thought that what the dishwasher was for!
  20. Has he had swabs taken and tested?
  21. for somebody thinking about joining the sport then find a local mentor, use your eyes and not always your ears! for a novice, get a routine and stick to it, keep a note book in your pocket and write everything down you do in and around the loft so that when something goes well or badly you can look back and see what you may have done or changed!
  22. you would strugle to get a bird to settle in there as they would just want to escape
  23. seems a bit pointless, sure any taxidermist would use the feet of the bird being stuffed.
  24. sometimes birds will damage flights and tails flying or hanging on the wire.
  25. do the whites live in an aviary or on wire?
