I think you need to look for healthy youngsters bred close to the tree. As you say sometimes its the ugly duckling that comes good!

members should take the weather into consideration as the weeks routine is all part of the preperation for the race including excercise and training. But many will still put the birds in anyway just because they don't want to miss a race or lose out on the averages etc etc.

Slightly off topic but if everybody agreed to keep their birds confined to the loft for 1 year, no excercise, no racing etc what would be the impact to the peregrine population?
