What a load of rubbish! Most years i loan and borrow birds, why transfer them to have to transfer them back upon return and put money into the unions pockets for nothing? Yes all winners should be verified as belonging to the person who raced it, also any birds turning up for marking without wingstamps and strange (non club issue) rings should be checked but beyond that what is the point of causing club officials more work!

If anybody joined either north or west of Brecon who would collect the birds?

i would go south as you have limited mileage north.

if they've been well trained and are fit then shouldn't be a problem.

Where in the country are you and do you have both north and south road clubs near you? Also would you be in a better position in one or the other? The channel is nothing if the birds are right and upto the job, yes the frogs shoot at them and there are the normal hazards, but as many losses north as south!
