  1. please remember before all the collectors or sellers make a claim on the ring that it is the proporty of the registered owner! The dead pigeon that you have found should be reported to the Irish Homing Union so the owner can be informed of the fate of his bird. We all like to know where our birds have ended up, dead or alive! Phil

there have been a few Barcelona/Tarbes etc races recently and i'm sure they would cross any portugese birds flying south westerly from france etc which could explain it if they have become mixed up.
  6. if its dried up and nothing broken then just let it rest, it'll want to go out for a fly in a couple of days!
  7. looks like kormorner cross! these are kormorners!
  8. There are very few lofts that just keep a single family these days. I think most are looking to improve, move forward and will bring in what they consider are the right birds to produce something to meet there aims. Anybody who has just kept 1 old breed will have not progressed. It depends on your aims, to continue to win or keep a family of birds that may have once won? Phil

  18. my guess would be overweight, split them, get her back in breeding condition then repair but a lot of hens will stop laying when they are heavy in moult. Do you also realy still want to be breeding now as most have finished?
  19. excellent stuff, best put on the perches at dusk so the fumes will clear any lice on the birds while roosting over night rather than flying around during the day. Also good to put a few drops in the bottom of your basket.

    YBS twice

Did you find the cause of the first outbreak? If you don't get to the route cause it will keep reoccuring.
  21. put some corn inside for them, whistle or call them as you post them through it a couple of times, they will soon be dashing in for the food when you call them.
  22. The biggest losses will be in the next couple of weeks when unprepared, undertrained, poor birds are sent to there first races because some don't plan for the future and "have to send" because its the first race and they want to chase the averages etc.
  23. so far lost 1 around loft and 1 training after 10 tosses. First race this weekend but they will miss it as i don't think they have had enough training aand will not jump them in for the sake of a race. They are my future team.

  25. Welcome to the site. Get yourself a loft sorted, there are planty of threads on here to read and then find out where your local club is. Once you have an idea what you want at the moment there are latebreds available or if its going to take you a while to get ready then start with some youngsters in the new year. Who is your dad? Phil
