  5. Good luck, sure will be tough!
  6. There is nothing to stop anybody articulate enough to write an article about these gallent birds and submit it to the national press. If anybody is in the Milton Keynes area go and visit the pigeon exhibition at Bletchley Park, loads of info that could be used for articles.

    What year

what do you mean no proof, havn't you seen the ETS pad on the Coleseum!
  8. have they had there meeting?
  9. Chris if you recall, a while ago i posted an e-mail to the BHW asking if a page could be given over to questions from the members for the RPRA to answer. I was told it would be brought up at the next meeting with the intention of these types of questions being answered directly by Mr Bills etc. Don't think bombardment will achieve anything!
  10. Any news on lib yet?
  11. I don't think the dilute gene effect flying ability but because it is dilute you don't see so many around to be raced.
  12. they still fly for at least an hour in the evening and until they are upto 20m+ tosses they are excercised before they go training as well so somedays they are flying a total of 3hrs+ If they are healthy and fit its not a problem, they may have to fly a lot longer when racing starts. Once they are over 20m then if i'm training in the morning they won't go out for morning excercise but i have found i get far fewer training losses this way. An example of the reason happened yesterday, I took the 2nd batch for the first time which are housed in my partners loft, they havn't been out of the loft for 2 days due to the weather, tossed them, got home, sat watching for them and they came steaming down the road, didn't stop, just kept going straight, 20min later they came steaming back again, and again kept going! I want them straight home and in!
  13. why take it away from where it was laid, just leave it, she will lay a 2nd with it and sit herself? But as has been said, they are unlikely to rear 3 healty squabs if the eggs are all the same age which it doesn't sound as if they are!
  14. you won't avoid hazards at any time of the day as you will see if you read Damians thread on the same subject. You just need to fit training in around your schedule. I do like to train mornings and then back home and in for there morning feed so they can go out again in the evening before the main feed. If you have early morning libs then they will also be used to flying at that time of day and the position of the sun etc so do what ever fits in with you and ignore the advice! Ask him why he sugests you go in the afternoon and when does he train his?

  16. So why arn't the judges tested before being put on the "approved judgeing list"?
  17. but there are many interpretations of each standard here, if the points system was used the standard of breeds would improve longterm or go down the American road and change everything!
  18. they did judge some of the birds on continental points system as well year before last. The continentals judge to standard whereas here they are just judged and the final result comes down to personal preference. Judgeing to standard maintains the breed type whereas personal preference changes.

    how many went?
  20. look at family's of birds within your own loft and you will see different charactoristics in the family's. A while ago I think it was Jimmy Bulger posted some eye pics of his birds look at them and see how different they are but in some ways how similar they are! Eye sign is only a tool but used in the right way along with type, constitution etc etc its very useful!
  21. many years ago i went with a friend to a fanciers loft nr Banbury, i'd never been there before, he showed us a new stock cock he'd just brought without giving us any information i told him what it was bred from! a guess, coincidence, no, just new the charictoristics of the familys eyes. I was in another loft in Leighton Buzzard for the 1st time, the owner told me all birds were of same family, when we were going through them i picked out 3 birds and told him they wern't related to the rest, and again spot on, they were from an outcross but looked identical to the rest of the family, all blues and lt chequers!
  22. sounds like its done the trick but i'd get some probiotics and multi vits into them before pushing them to much.
  23. what have you treated them with over the last week?
  24. It doesn't work like that, eyesign will tell you the potential but the owner has to get the best out of the bird, condition it, motivate it etc before it will win!
