if the parent birds have sat on the eggs and started to incubate them, the eggs would not last more than a day or two,
but if their layed and never been sat on [never started incubating] the eggs will last a couple of weeks if turned regular, and kept on the cool side
i have added eggs to a sitting yb to make it keener as it spends its time trying to tuck them under it, but would never let any bird rear more than two, i would prefer a yb sitting on its first ybs about 3 days old with the cock taken away, especialy for the distant yb race
agree with tony , but if their not on darkness and you try and hold the moult at this time, they might be worse off for the later races, off course it also depends on when theve been bred, if their old enough to lay, they would probably have body moulted before the longer races
just wondered how you got on with ybs good advice above, but its amazing how they might go hungry day or two, but theyll soon eat especialy if they see another bird eating, hope things are going well.
i would put as much info as possible on the pigeon, and ask for offers on pigeon basics,, and if sold , remember a wee bit commision to the p,b,
;D ;D wings,,,i bought clockies granny ,,shes better looking than him ,,,,younger looking as well ;D ;D
i think nature decides the wing for the distance, for instance if you look at the birds that barely fly i,e. partridge ,pheasant, even chickenthey all have very short primaries, then if you look at the swallow, terns etc, long pointed flights, so i think we can use that as a guide [ problem is, theres allways exeption to the rule with pigeons :)]
i had exactly the same problem a few years ago, all i could do was , try my best to regain their confidence, open loft every day at the same time, and try and encourage them outside with a little red band ,and made sure i was there all the time, then tried the bath after a few days , they gradually got going buy it took about 3 weeks to get the jumpiness out of them, but each day they improved with a little t, l, c, so i wish you the best of luck c,p,
if you have a bird with two broken legs,,and really want to save it, you can borrow your wifes or girlfreinds [or even boyfreinds ;D] tights and make a hammock where the bird is secured and the two legs dangling down, it really is how amazing how quickly a ybs bones heal
their better separated from the old birds, and let out at regular times if they dont fly then,,i would get their droppings tested , the cider vinegar would do them no harm, or even try garlic in their water
