  1. as i stated b4 on a post, in the past raced both darkness ybs and natural ybs ,the darkness ones were raced out to the yb nat. and the natural were well trained and given about 3 races,as yearlings and older birds i found no differance whatsoever, both raced just as well [off course i had more of the natural ones left,as they only had 3 races]
  2. happened to me about 5 mins ago 12 30 now
  3. ive used powdered baby milk in their water whilst rearing, found the ybs very healthy, with firm droppings
  4. :)best of luck to you burr, hope you let us know how you progress
  5. yes, i agree their more important for stock purposes, but they can still win, which i found out by accident
  6. your making a fantastic job of it, the birds look great , and some smashing photos
  7. yes congratulations, certainly some flying scott gibson also wish fifer luck next week at falaise, it would be nice to see him score
  8. still no sign of it, if you happen to get it reported steve give me a pm thanks
  9. if a yearling is carrying nest flights its probably a later bred yb, ,,you should spot the differance quite easy, the nest flights are usually, duller in colour and a bit shorter and narrower, than the moulted ones
  10. yes a hard race indeed , last night here was a really miserable night, here, with rain from about 5pm onward, hope theres a lot more back by now, its tough when you go over the 500 mile mark , good luck to those who have timed
  11. i had the grey hounds years ago, one ws that fast, and well in front, it stopped 10 yards from the finishing line,,,,and had 4 pups,,,,went on to win the race,,,,, AND ONE OF ITS PUPS WAS SECOND ;D ;D ;D ;D

    over-train?

sorry to say jason , but theres something amiss ybs should thrive on 25 mile tosses,, every day if poss,[weather permitting off course] is there any decent fliers near you willing to help you, to look on the bright side ,it might be something very simple that could be put right easily, best of luck anyway jason and hope you get to the bottom of it
  13. well done to all these gallant pigeons that made it, especially the ones on the day, but jim donaldsons,,,, well what can you say,, what a feat,,, congrats to all.
  14. yes well done,, and well done to all that entered
  15. dont give up my freind, i think weve all had things in the past, one year i lost every single hen i had in the training wagon , when it went on fire [22]pure accident ,no bodies fault. then way back my loft was broken in to every bird stolen, all birds back after a few days , rings cut off them all,,, there are unfortunately, more downs than ups in pigeon racing, but with a little determination, youll get there, so sorry all this has happened to you and wish you luck for the future
  16. just out of curiosity, latebred bred from brother sister mating 3d club madstone, ist year on the road, never trained as yb [approx 370 miles]bred from sir colin, same fancier won the race with a g, son off sir colin, so i was quite chuffed :)
  17. ;D ;D i used to give my cash to the "sick animals",,,,,only i didnt know they were sick when i backed them ;D ;D

  21. amtrack ,,,more like wrongtrack
  22. im sure this topic was on before,,,but anyway here they are called croups
  23. you could possibly be right clockman, but really what i was meaning was we had never heard of paramyxovirus a long time ago ,i only used the 20 years as a" long time ago " as a young fancier racing pigeons, we never had any bother or even had heard of this, im sure many of the older fanciers would agree with that,,,anyway after saying that ,i found brunos article to be most interesting, and would just wonder what his answer to his e mail would say,,it is only my opinion that since the vaccination started, racing has not been the same, more pigeons lost, looking at an old loft book ,which you will see , in 1958 started off with 9 ybs from the nest went every toss, race, right to the yb nat, which was cheltenham then ,finished up with 7 ybs, for some reason or another im quite sure that couldnt be done today, and this was the norm with many fanciers, the velocities were just as fast [or slow ]as todays , but we never lost as many birds. p,s it could have been 22 years ago ;D ;D ;D
  24. it might be worth finding out if there is any law applied to this matter in connecticut as this law applies to us in the uk,
  25. sorry to here that jason, it just goes to show ,you neverknow what happens to ybs, when they dont get home, theve all kinds of obstacles to go through, , just hope you get more back
