the losses have been horrendous, much more than "usual" and whatever it is, its getting worse year by year and its ybs just flying beteen 10 miles to 100 miles they should be able to make light work out of that,,ive seen them trying everything , batch training , differant time, training, freind of mine trained from 25 miles about 10 times , birds comming great but THEN bang 15 out of 39, on the same day which seemed good enough, most members had the same, so it does make you wonder, whats in the air or whats in the atmosphere,or even just WHAT. but theres deffinately something amiss , when pigeons cant use there homming ability, as they did years ago [even if they were late]

yes congrats to both shadow and speed bird,,seems the forum birds are doing well

how many birds have you now rob, do uou have a large loft or a small loft and just starting, how are you getting on with them at least youve done well with the offers on the forum, most of them are very kind people, maybe let us know how your doing

i agree with above, but would be very carefull withe that needle,,,better to basket birds then inject and put back in loft one at a time,,,,,,the reason im saying that is,i was injecting a famous nat winners birds,inside the loft , where he ws catching them i was injecting, and he was putting them in the next section,now this is true ;D ;D ;D, im sure he would verify this ;D ;D ;D he bent over to catch a bird on the corner of the floor,i was standing [needle in hand,loaded]with the needle pointing away from me, looking at the birds on the perches, as he bent over , his butt stuck in to the needle ;D he wasnt bothered too much but his wife made him go to the a and e of local hosp, but every thing was ok, so it goes to show how carefull you should be. p.s ;D ;D got a bit worried next day when he started cooing ,and moulting ;D ;D ;D ;D, but above is true ;D ;D ;D

the topic was started just as a bit of fun as all over the uk we seem to call these "streeters", differant names , do you not have a name for them in cornwall?

definately agree with you andy,, most folks buy a pair of ybs , loose them ,then say so and so,s birds are no good, you need a firm base of a good few , able to breed from them , form a team , then your loft management and know how, comes in to practise,,,and even then the greats, dont come 10 a penny

keep the key tony,, that way we can just let her out for exercise then back in and feed and water her ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

i would say def , stress related ,which can lead to yb sickness, and secondry infections, i would keep them in a few days, providing the loft is not overcrowded, feed them a very light feed ie depurative, with live yogurt in the water, then if no better in a few days, have there droppings tested and swabs taken,,hoping for the best it may just be stress and after a few days of peice and quiet might just do the trick, but keep the loft spotless and sprayed with something like virkon s, difficult when the birds are in, best of luck

some times when ybs are left out for a while they tend to explore and go from one roof to another,further away, i would go along with mo , keep them peckish and give them all this, and maybe a bit red band just a pinch at a time to keep them wanting, and have the bath there for them , then get them in.pigeons are creatures of habit, and i think its up to us to learn them the good habits, wish you well
