  5. i have found a good breeding hen produces winners more regularly than cocks , but maybe more importantly , in my opinion, having a good breeding pair are really quite hard to come by ,and worth their weight in gold,, i see in the poll,,,, sorry better let folk see for themselves ;D ;D ;D
  6. happy birthday tammy
  7. without getting involved with anything, apart from demeaning of ians, ability or integrity , for any one , inluding" me",,,, this i find most shocking to a most honest ,respectable, and knowledgeable fancier as i know this to be fact , so whatever arguements you may have, his reputation is there to be seen by all.

  13. :) good luck to wee peg ,, looks like hes going to be a real dooman :)
  14. agree with you wings , saves on grub , cleaning etc, and when their 10 weeks old ready to train , whereas these december bred birds are mostly trained too late, unless specialised in that system, and still trained at 10 weeks old , but too cold here for that [bad enough trying to train obs in april]
  15. when the ybs are hatched i put galley pots in each box and keep topped up with maples and tic beans and a few peanuts [wich are eaten first ] i feed all birds with a mixture on the floor [ they dont eat much maize anyway whilst feeding young,] i also put babies milk powder in the water, i find this way the ybs see the old birds eating and are eating themselves quite young, which doesnt take as much out the ob,s, but still leave them with parents until at least 21 days old, sometimes later depending when i separate a few, at the one time , i also find the ybs have more confidence in you at an early age , when putting your hand in a few times a day to fill the pots , i continue to feed a high protein diet , if i were keen to win yb races i would lighten the mix,
  16. ;D ;D ;D HAD A JUMPER UP HERE ,,, WHEN I TURNED THAT WATER ON ;D ;D ;D
  17. hi nancy view lofts, im not a beleiver in lighting or heating as such, but found that by fitting a towel rack at each side of the loft [ bought at the scrappies for £1 each], produced just enough warmth to keep the drinkers from freezing , and allthough the loft was still cold , it also helped keeping any dampness at bay, the pipes on it were barely even warm , but it did the trick
  18. wiley if you go back a few pages[ page 5 for instance] youll find a bit about flagyl there, but theres more further back if you have a search
  19. think massarelli would take a bit of beating at £99 for 6 [thats if they still do that] theres many a good pigeon turned up there,,,,would allmost cost you that to rear them :)
  20. ive seen them nail a yb in the sky [the carion crows ] but being bothered bad with hawks lately , yesterday watched a pair of crows ward away a hen sparrowhawk, way in to the distance , then the pair of crows returned to the big tree at the back of me, [looks as though theve just settled there] so far theve not bothered the birds , but was surprised at the viciousnessof the crows warding off that hawk in mid air, so i think now that the crows are the best of two evils p.s cant seem to get that link sue , but will try later
