  1. i get the impression roland and timbarra are on two differant wave lengths,, roland is saying the birds will find their own grit, so in saying that ,however they get it ,they need it,, but timbarra is saying birds dont need grit at all , which in my opinion is wrong ,,,,i think tony,s post says it all
  2. absolutely,, quite incredable ,, really some performance
  3. thanks for keeping us all well informed bruno ,,, excellent job, [and off course the other posters too]

  6. sounded like a real bad race,, i hope you all had decent returns since
  7. yes alf i was wondering that myself , allthough the wind is in the south, its very light at this side of the country ,and theres been a few showers , it would be great to see a bird home on the day
  8. yes a great bit of reading roland i can just remember the end of the ration books where we were only allowed so much eggs ,butter sugar etc etc per week once your ration was used that was that my father kept the hens where we used to swap a trawlerman neighbour, eggs for fish , these were the best of free range hens eggs for the freshest of fish ,,,,,,at one time we kept the pigeons in the same hut as the hens ;D

yes i would agree with that,, but again it depends on the workload theve had, ,ie lightly raced and still fuel left in the tank, but in the main over the 4th flight and their condition goes downhill a wee bit

a lot say the flights dont matter , but in my opinion, once they start casting, they cast pretty quick, but with 2 weeks to go b4 basketing , they may well be on their 5th , i often think at this stage the body feathers begin to slacken ready for the big moult, but off course theres allways exception to the rule with pigeons,, so wish you the best of luck

  16. good luck to all who have entered ,,its a very long way no matter what the wind , round about the 630 mile mark to edinburgh, so will take a tough, fit bird to keep going,, i hope you have a good race, i think its the snfc tours this sat , very difficult races ,,
  17. great updates and pics :) a real credit to you chatrace
  18. could be many things,, but in answer to your question in treating cocci, you can use harkers coxoid ,[flock treat for cocci.], there are quite a few treatments for this, ,,,,,but i agree with the posts above its not neccesssary cocci ?? unfortunately sometimes you have to suppress the odd young bird to save the rest, but advice from an experienced fancier ,would let you know this, best of luck
