joking apart ,, the" bird scarer" :-/ rockets would be well worth letting off b4 any libs ,,,,,at least it may give the pigeons a start to clear,[but would still have to run the gauntlet on the way home]
-
next sat 12 midnight , will become 11pm not midnight ;D
-
i think you may have misheard your message from the police ,,,hes not working away with a security firm ,,,hell have been taken away by the social security,,firmly ;D to be honest i think this should be laid to rest by the forum , any info on him , pmd to complainents,, and let the police deal with it ,[in their way]
-
yes ,, i thought the same [they can, but not like us ] rings for this year comming ,,,,,,,tartan ;D
-
you will allways get fanciers selling pigeons,, for one reason or another , its completely up to the buyer and the seller ,, fortunately most are gennuine ,, but allways the one that" cheats" , so really its up to the buyer to seek as much info as poss ,, possibly recomendations from good honest pigeon men would help the buyer ,, but theres just as many good birds going cheep [especialy the young birds ;D] or even free [birds every bit as good ]
-
hi johno,, if you read the very first post on the [sticky ,,birds of prey post youll see that the rspb advised the fanciers to change from the west coast as this was the worst corridor for" perigrines", the point im trying to make is,, they are all over now
-
im free ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D still eating dovescotes tatties ;D ;D ;D [thanks mate ;D]

i agree with this post entirely , but feel this is only aiming mainly at sparrowhawks , which will even enter the aviary , i think the bigger problem is the perigrines , which are rife on the moors in the borders , these birds are attacking the batches ,maybe killing one, but leaving the rest scattered ,hitting all and sundry [as the rspb say 38 pc of losses are due to "collisions",[this was their verdict 3 years ago,,,,,,,,,,,,, now the libs are less and the perigrines are more] its obvious a pigeon wont fly straight in to a glass window of its own accord??] the protection of these birds should now be altered since the days of ddt, as they have multiplied so much more now..., the rspb ,[ a mighty lot] have all the support from the public , and make a lot of money from the public, so its time we thought of getting the public on our side e,g my post ,,,,,,,and let them know their being duped[ in certain areas], they do a good job in some ways, but mislead the public in others

i agree ,,,not good ,, i have a disability and receiving "anti tnf treatment" ,, another post code lottery to fit the criteria , this drug [self injection twice per week]has worked marvelous with me, but why should other folk still suffer, and have to do without ,, i had to near fight for this,,,,,,,,,however my posting has a deeper meaning,,

What influences how you pair up?
jimmy white replied to The White Rapido Man's topic in Racing Pigeons
if your birds are of good quality ,, love matches are as good as anything -
def would agree , would even prefer to single yb,s up [after initial learning] a few times ,, but a large batch of birds definately fun for percy :-/
-
maybe some of these guys that do pigeon deliveries could get together and out do amtrack,,worth a thought :) good luck to you ernie [the fastest pigeon cart in the west ;D ;D ;D]
-
have a good week roland ,, let us know how you get on :)
-
in my opinion , would train them locally [say up to 15 miles ,on their own ,in good weather,in differant directions ,as they will now be body moulting too now] i would say, the biggest problem would be ,training them too early next year [that will spell disaster] train them in may , with just a couple of come back races , theyll make great two year olds [if their still there,,hope so ]
-
in my opinion , would do the birds no good whatsoever ,,,,good old tap water as said ,,,,,but changed often
-
you most certainly did chrissy :) ,, also that this meant the hay goes up [bedding and feeding for horses] straw goes up,, so the wood shavings will go up as they will now be in demand only thing that comes down in scotland is rain ;D ;D ;D
-
if you can see them down the chimney,, youll get more than 6ft down with a "disabled mans arm" this is a device for disabled folks to pick up odds and ends without bending , it works with a trigger at one end and a gripper at the other ,just enough to get round a pigeon and hold it secure, you can get them most lengths [the" disabled mans arm i mean" ;D]
-
yes its getting a bit rediculous now, i paid £10 50 for my bag , allthough they did have a bad harvest this year , this has been the excuse b4 ,,, but when its a good harvest,,,,it never goes down [in price, that is ;D]
-
it just goes to proove that ,,dampness is the worst enemy , certainly not the cold , these ferals i was on about,, on bone dry rafters , plenty fresh air , and droppings falling about 30 ft ,,,thats nature for you ;D ;D ;D
-
bet harkers will replace it with something better???? and something dearer ;D ;D
-
yes i agree fully with this,, but , as the rspb say "the west coast corridor has the majority of the hawk population", and a few years ago, adviced to change from this route,,,,,but i can assure you all that this situation has changed drasticly, the "east route" coldstream, kelso, ridsdale , otterburn are polluted with them , much more now, than a few years ago [im quite sure the rspb know this ,as they cant keep breeding and staying in the west , theve multiplied many times over , since that report by the rspb in 2003 >

just slightly off topic , but just yesterday on my usual ramble through the countryside ;D slower a bit now ;D came across the old open ended barn [or big shed with the wind howling through] lots of the country ferals , roost there, these birds are like greazed lightning , and must have superb hearing, as their out like a shot, even with me creeping up, but the point im making is these birds," treated with nothing "are in imaculate condition,, i picked up , loads of moulted flights ,[looking for a wing stamp one ] these flights were absolutely perfect, not even a fret mark ,suberb texture , quite amazing really considering theve carried them for a year , but these are the real ferals, not the townies , which i suspect could be crossed with any type through the years , which i would class as semi- domesticated, but must admit ,i was quite amazed

so thats what youve been giving that hamster, ;D ;D ;D, and even got the cheek to get the sea gull to nick it for you ;D ;D ;D

yip pigeons will eat differently at differant times of the year and under different circumstances , ie feeding young, recovering from hard time, and MOULTING
-
glad you managed to get them out ,, we had a similar prob, way back in the pages , its allways worth a look back ,, but i understand how desperate you were , but thankfully ,,,,happy ending
