  4. yes ;D ;D ;D your bang on ,,especially around the borders [otterburn army training camp] those army planes come over faster than the speed of sound , so low you can see the pilot [well slightly exagerated ;D,] but seriously my freind who lived in kelso, lost 40 ybs [them all] in one go ,,,when two of these planes banged over ,, he had some reported in the south of england and in the west of scot, [about 4]
  5. get your money out your pocket,,your loaded ;D ;D ;D ;D [like me ;D] excellent sale at £150 , well done stuart
  6. you can use cider vinegar 2 ,, 3 times a week , a good aid to various health probs , but , but many of us use too much additives to water [in my opinion] cider vinegar, garlic , vitamins and many more other things theyll want to steal your money from in blackpool ;D,, i find garlic quite sufficient. chopped up, put in a lemonade bottle filled with warm water [not boiling, youll break the bottle ;D] no boiling it takes the good out the alicin in the garlic,,,,,but cider vinegar ,, no harm
  7. yb losses are far greater nowa days than years ago, for what excact reason i dont know,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but i do know what can contribute to this due to my own past experience, [1] too many birds to , to little space [breeding more, and more is just defeating the object of the thing and in fact making things worse [2] to many yb,s not being basket trained , properly i,e making sure they habitualy drink from the drinkers ,on many occasions as from 4 weeks old ,which also gives them more confidence in the basket [3] a lot of darkness ybs are 7 months old b4 training ,,,,too late in my opinion a pigeon needs trained at 10 weeks [even short distances] [4] fanciers treating their birds on numbers , rather than individuals , less birds =less stress=less health probs= more contented birds [5]it is my beleive , we are now breeding pigeons , with less constitution, due to , too much medication [6] hawk problems [7]the main bit ,,which i dont know is, there is something in the atmosphere now that wasnt there years ago , whatever it is ?

  11. yes i have found this chrissy,,, it just seems strange that all dont follow the same pattern ,,they are not all replaced in the yearly cycle ,, just shows you you have to have a bird well reared and well moulted , as who knows how long theyl lhave to keep keep their secondries
  12. lets try and make this enjoyable,,its just for fun,, its not the winning that counts ,, its the competing ;D ;D ;D
  13. just shows you ,,what a difference a day makes ;D dont say i didnt tell all the doomsdayboys,,,that were without hope ,,,,,,theres allways hope for everything
  14. we all know that a bird usualy moults all its 10 primary flights in a season , providing its bred at the right time [ i,e not a late bred ] ,,,,but how do they moult their secondries?? they dont moult all secondries , anyone know the sequince of the moulting of these secondries?

  19. vey very interesting , im allways interested in this and find it quite fascinating ,, it opens up a lot of ,,ifs, buts, and maybes. but then again thats what pigeon racing is about
  20. my system ws a relativly easy system , the idea came from a bird i bought from 14 miles north of me, this bird settled no probs, but when unpaired would go back to the old address [there was no loft there at this time ] this bird ,i put on w hood where every morn 6am out with the cocks would travel this distance every morn 6am every evening 5 pm [taking the other cocks [i take it ] most of the way anyway this bird was doing almost 60 miles every day of its own accord , it wouldnt do it right after a race till about the tuesday [prooving to me that birds dont want trained until then after a race ,,,,,if you wanted to toss?] this bird was 15th gold cup national ,,never having a training toss ,,,but fit especially when putting two 3 day old ybs under it ,[seeing no hen for 4 weeks previous , and only seeing and sitting on these ybs for 3 days ,,off course these ybs had to be changed every few hours as the cock had no milk, which off course made the cock keener in TRYING to feed them ,,so to me , that was fitness and keenness in a oner which won me the £100 pool £1800 17 of the best of national birds , most had done the bussiness [otherwise they wouldnt have put the£100 pool on them ], mines the 18 th one , NEVER SCORED B4 and was 6 years o;d but i had the confidence in putting this pool on it [the bird had flown a few nationals never scored but never far out ] but ,as i said, now he had fitness and keenness, this did the trick so, since weighing the situation up was able to form my own boomerang system simply based on this ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and beleive me this was no joke , or at least it wasnt for the fanciers loosing their money ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D all the way to the bank ve haf ways in making dem ffly,,,,,,,simply by observation
  21. have deleted the" off topic" replies and" mickey taking posts"jw this is a fairly serious system ,, i personally had my own [boomerang system ] where i won many races and many prizes ,,there are in my opinion , slightly different methods , mine prooved good to me
  22. duncan hifen ewan of the rspb advised fanciers to avoid the west route about 4 years ago , as this route is polluted with perigrines ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if it was polluted then ,where do the offspring go, in the 4 years since [all perigrines have their terrirory [sometimes overlapping another pairs territory] proven facts now, there are as many all around kelso ,otterburn ,ridsdale, otterburn, carter bar coldstream [we heard of a perigrine attack on a lib only this year ,,then there were rockets set off to deter them ,, the simple truth is they are all over now theres a lot of young perigrines bred off a lot of adult perigrines and have to find their own territory , im not butting in , in any of lanarkshire bussiness , but merely pointing out, the perigrine problem, is also as bad in the east around these parts as anywhere [these areas are also bad for goshawks where there are more of these in these areas than the west , many of the farmers ,gamekeepers will tell you this [read first post on hawks ,,sticky ,,,now prooving hawks winning, fanciers losing ] its time the shoe was on the otherfoot >
