looks like another good thread spoilt by completely going off a good topic ,, when a seperate thread would have done [ then probably deleted,,,,,,in code ]
  2. i dont think that would be a bad idea,,,at least it would get the tv crews there and reporters and off course we would have try our best to act like sportsman [as we are]

    wish list

my wish would be for fanciers to argue less ,pay more attention to their birds :)peace in the valley [sorry the forum and as the great rabbie burns said " for" a" that and" a" that,,,its comming yet for "a" that that,,man to man the world oer, shall brothers be for a that" and for myself,, god grant me the serenity, to accept the things i cannot change ,,,,,,,,,,,the courage to change the things i can,,,,,,,,,,,,and the wisdom to know the difference good luck to all in the new year
  4. yes , a good idea , for both,,the birds and the site,, put me down for 4 rings , ill send cash on
  5. i would tend to agree with alf ,,,,but at only 7 months old you may be right,, i would just let nature take its course ,,,,good luck
  6. the race has been successfull for many years now ,,, approx 50 miles but at that time of year its like 500 miles,,, usually a very difficult race,,, still dont know the full result

  8. they used to hold the race on xmas day,, but changed it as many were waiting for the birds instead of attending to their families :) i think , this year it was the 24th ,, but havent heard the result yet ,, just that celtic says jim douglass wins it ,,if so best of luck jim ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,beeg money race :-/
  9. i have paired two nestmates up,,,by mistake,, [one was on loan untill we found out they were nestmates ] topped the fed with a yb from this pair ,,, whether this was a one of ,,who knows

  11. see ;D ;D ;D i agree with you sometimes tammy ;D
  12. i have found success in the past , with an inbred cock of one winning family ,paired to an inbred hen of a different winning family,,,but its after that, that problems can occur ,, but the as old saying goes ,,,, the hybrid vigour
  13. hi tom ,, if you look back the posts youll see my birds pics of being attacked and hitting window ,, after a hawk attack,, its amazing how these birds heal ,, this bird was so bad , the gamekeeper was going to put it down , but tended to the bird puffing an antibiotic powderon the wound ,, fully expecting the worst the next day ,mostly due to shock ,he reckoned if it survived the first night it would be ok,,, glad to report the bird is back to his old self , flying perfectly ,cooing etc,, but it does make you wonder what phsycological damage it may have done
  14. poss right speed,,, with pigeons, anything worth trying,, i have read about this in the past,, i think one of the main things are on pairing on a full moon , is that the the pairs can near enough see each other without fighting, and gently fall in love rather than abrubtly go mad at the appearance of the hen :-/, but thats only my opinion
  15. i nose that ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  16. my father used condies crystals oin the pigeons bath regular,, never done them any harm,, but i would prefer giving them a hot bath , the day after a race ,, i just feel that some may have taken a knock on liberation, or simply to ease their muscles ,, hot enough to be able to put your hand in [remember a pigeons temp, is higher than ours , about 5 degrees] they will enjoy this

  21. youll recognise me ,, biggest nose in blackpool ;D ;D ;D [me and the great eddie newcombe ] a few years ago
  22. looking good ,, nice and clean,, birds looking well
  23. yes this is true,,, but other factors are that these ybs are in fact late late latebreds and will hold their flights ,,,but just like latebreds they would be easier lost when training at 6 months old ,,,,too late ,,,, save yourself some time, grub, mess, and rear in feb,, and use blinds for darkness hours ,close at 5pm open at 9pm ,,,,start basket training early,, short trainers at 10 weeks old , youll loose less
