no,,just night nurse ;D ;D ;D

im in loanhead , near edin and each morning there are batches upon batches of ferals, fairly belting along , towards the country ,, of a late evening you see them returning [maybe natures way of survival of the fittest and natures way of keeping the fat off them b4 breeding starts ] the ferals that cant keep up ,or wont keep up are left in the town to eat crisps etc , these are the ones that dont last long ,,,,,but these others are fit and get the best of feeding ,minerals, and grit ,,,,even vitamins ;D no injections , no antibiotics [or rather man made antibiotics, no coxoid , no wormer ] these are natures strong constitution pigeons , generations of them ,,,,survival of the fittest

if you delve in to the genetics of the birds , you will find this so

just noticed this ;D ;D ;D shall breed some, and put them on" for sale thread" at night off course ;D ;D ;D

in my opinion , the best and easiest way ,, just try to keep it peckish and let it have a pick at a little seed either on your landing board or the ground ,,,,,,,,,,,,,then persevere ittl be staying in a couple of days

i think their great ,,especialy when you get the birds carrying them in themselves , ive often seen them flying around with a tobacco stalk ,,,like doing a lap of honour ,, they dont look great,, but the pigeons seem to prefer them to most nesting materials ,, they def keep the nasties away from the youngsters in the nest ,, it often amazes me how some will build nests ,near touching the roof of the nest box yet others not so keen i am happy using tobacco stalks , but was advised to try pine needles , never got round to this , but would like to try it ,,,ive used lavender stalks , but i think with a decent nest of tobacco stalks , the air circulates better as the yb gets older, as their not lying on the base of the nestpan where it gets damp

yes as the above posts suggest they can get you in to trouble ;D ;D ;D mines is 50 years old and really funny at times ,, i would say c. p. b as yours is very young getting its confidence is the first thing, their very intelligent,, theres many parrot sites and info on them , worth looking at , mines coos like a pigeon ,,lets off like a human and sings like a canary ;D ;D ;D [which i have in another cage ] , to begin with try and gain its confidence by keep talking to it and offering a tit bit , with a little patience and time, im sure you will get many a laugh with it [and some shocks ;D] mines actualy flies free in summer [was actually out today while i cleaned his cage ] when hes told" to get in that cage" he does ;D and often seen in the bath with the pigeons , they show no fear from it at all [i do sometimes though ;D] best of luck with it c, p , b.

and with massive birdages , we in fact used to have 6 over 500 mile races [the east of scot continental club ] wonder why the birdages are so low now?? weve had more away in the club, 36 members [42 at one time] sent 710 birds in gilmeron club at one time,,,,[now theres about 10 members ,refusing an 11 year old boy , who wanted to fly them at his grandads ] than what goes to some nationals now ,,,,,no wonder clubs go downhill >

i agree with this post , im sure bart will agree , bruno kept us up to date with many things inc. avian flu,,, and fact not rumour [not saying your excellent post is rumour bart ] but bruno put paid to most of the past silly rumours concerning avian flu hence kept us in touch with the latest facts .....the hours he spent for pb in seeking the latest info, were incredable

very interesting poll,,,,,, sadly was told today that a young fancier 11 years old refused membership to a local pigeon club [that received a community grant ] to my mind this is outragious,,,,,,,,,,,,all because his dad new me ,,,sad ,,very sad ,allmost sick [he was going to keep them in an 8 by 6 loft at his grandads ] lives 6 miles from me :-/ :-/ :-/ :'(

have a pair sitting eggs, bottom box,, pair above not laid yet ,,every time that bottom ch cock comes off his egs he just throws the pair out , then takes charge of that box ,,,locked him in his own box ,,made him worse , so now at the mo, while hes not sitting hes in the basket ,,just hoping that when the hen in the middle box lays , the cock will show a little more oomph [this is a new cock to the loft ] but as soon as she lays ,,ill put dummy,s under them ,,till they sort themselves out , then hopefully replace the eggs

" sir colin" 1st east section 2cnd national snfc nantes 605 miles 12th east section 25th national snfc nantes 605 miles 12th east section 60th national snfc sartilly 505 miles 82,d east section 136 national snfc sartilly 505 miles had his wing broken at 4 years old in the prime of his carreer " old meally" scored every race point in club,,, and 9 times over 500 miles ,, think he was 84th national at 9years old many more ;D ;D ;D

my theory on freindship is ,,, treat it valuable ,but keep it in constant repair

ahh got you now pigeon scout ,,i did miss your point ,i apologise ive got you now though ;D yes its true ,, theres only one winner , but i think the point i was trying to make [not very well ] there are many races of many types and distances i,e the stock birds that would breed winners from 200 mile would be different ones from ,say 600 miles even stockbirds that can breed winners at 500 miles can be different to the ones that breed the 600 milers , i think im trying to say , theres as many different types of races for different types of breeders , but if they can breed winners for their selected races in different conditions ,,,very hard to come by ,,gold

with the w,hood cocks fair play,, i used to have an old security camera in the loft fitted to a monitor in the kitchen [folk thought i was mad ,,,dont answer that ;D ;Dbut would sit and look at it for hours during their lockup period between 7 and 5pm ,,itwas truly amazing what i learnt about my own birds,,and often managed to pick a pooler through this ,,some cocks were absolutely calm [these were the best [some, i thought were calm , were in fact bullies in the loft , these birds were used in other ways ] but really amazing what i learnt about my own birds
