  8. i thought the programme was quite good ,especialy for non_fanciers ,,ive had a few neighbours ,friends etc, tell me they found it very interesting . im sure if they made a prog, on the war pigeons in relationship with the modern day fanciers , and the races they compete in ,i,e distance , most non fanciers would be amazed , off course it would be handy to mention that the hawks invariably caught some of these pigeons , and allthough many lifes were saved because of our winged heros, many more might have been saved because of the hawks, killing the messenger pigeons carrying the vital messages,,,,,of course these hawks have multiplied in their hundreds as they are protected, but still killing racing pigeons ,maybe flying 600 miles only to be killed maybe a mile from home :-/ :-/ :-/
  9. i won my first trophie in 1958,,the feeling i got as a young lad was fantastic,,,,,,so why take it away from anyone nowadays ,, a trophie to a new starter will keep him in the sport , and make him [or her[ aim for more

  15. still think the feds out of order, they make enough money out of the fanciers ,, to at least do the job properly ,,,,,even at that ,, theyll still make money ,s there would be many fanciers phoning up ,,,,,,,,,,,,money for nothing ,, think i would be annoyed as well
  16. she wont sit on the eggs too long , so whenever she was starting to loose interest , id put a big 5 day old yb under it [if she hasnt soft food id keep swapping the young bird for a fresh one i,e put the yb back with the original pair , then give it the other one , this should make the hen keen , but off course it has to be fit and ready for the race,,,,good luck
  17. ive found [mind you different for different birds] an old cock sitting 8 days still feeding a big young one [really its feeding itself] a good position for extreme distance i,e, found a, w, hood cock ideal in certain conditions [weather wise] but safest way is either of them sitting 10 days on eggs
