  6. i bought a dog from oneof these ads ;D ;D ;D it was a cross between a schitso and a bull terrier they called it a bullschit ;D ;D ;D
  7. quite right sue it should be their duty to transfer them
  8. cant say I've heard of any new breed or different pigeons winning in this area , but see the same fanciers winning with different pigeons pretty regular ,, with a few up and coming new fanciers getting in the picture now , my own thoughts are that the management is more important ,especially in races up to 300 miles
  9. to keep the club afloat , why not each member nominate 4 birds for the club result , if youve 50 birds or so its very difficult to pick four birds [when all members would have the same chance ], rather than race numbers in the hope of getting any bird i say ,this really just to save the club,,,,,,,,but, learning to beat them would be better and more satisfying
  10. i dont know who flies them the best,,,,,but they are beautifull, versitile pigeons , i used to have a few many years ago , nice powder blues, which won races and shows as well , i got them from an ian bailie, whose father imported these birds direct
  11. remember a pigeon has 3 eye lids ,one is the nicky membrane which acts as a kind of windscreen washer ,this third eyelid could be stuck ,closed, making the eye look odd,,,if it was one eyed cold [usualy linked to respiratory probs ], you would see bubbles on the bottom of the eyelid. if, as you say the pupil is yellow tends to make me think the bird has had an injury, resulting in blindness, whether temporary [i hope] or permanent , bathing it with a cold tea bag would do no harm , if it was respiratory, i would have thought it would show in the younger birds first ,but possible ,if so [or if any others showed signs ]i would treat for respiratory , a bird that has had one eyed cold for some time can result in blindness ,,,,,,,,,maybe better seeing a good avian vet
  12. well done stuart mullin, a fantastic result especialy in that strong west wind , another great pigeon down in history,,,,,,well done to green grass for such a nice, unselfish report,,,really great stuff
  13. a truly fantastic result flying 632 miles to win the race , a really big congratulation to gordon willox and the great pigeon "heathers dream" this will go down in history ,and well deserved too
  14. IF YOU LOOK AT THE SNFC SITE YOULL SEE THE LIB LINE NAMES , AROUND A DOZEN ON IT FROM THE LOTHIANS , I THINK MAYBE PRINGLE ,GOREBRIDGE AND COMBE ELPHINSTONE PROBABLY THE BEST [sORRY , ;D IM SHOUTING but not now ;D ;D my mistake]
  15. WELL DONE ALF , WHO KNOWS, THAT COULD BE THE WINNER NEXT YEAR BET YOU TOOK SALTS WHEN YOU SEEN IT,, ;D,,,,,,,,,,,,,,SUMMERSALTS ;D WELL DONE
  16. FIRST OF ALL DEBBIE, I WOULD REALLY CLEAN THE LOFT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, THEN SPRAY THE WHOLE LOFT WITH VIRKON S, THIS IS A VERY STRONG DISENFECTION APPROVED STRONGLY BY DEFRA,, THIS WILL DO NO HARM, WHATEVER IT IS,,BUT IT DOES SOUND TO ME LIKE THE START OF THE DREADED YB SICKNESS , USUALLY FOLLOWED ON WITH SECONDRY INFECTIONS ETC. ANYONE CAN GET THIS PROBLEM NOWADAYS ,,SO YOUR CERTAINLY NOT ALONE WITH THIS , ITS SOMETIMES VERY DIFFICULT TO GET A REALLY GOOD AVIAN VET , WHO , WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE BIRDS , AND OFF COURSE THIS WOULD COST,,,E,MAILING GORDON CHALMERS MAY HELP , BUT AGAIN ITS GUESSWORK OVER THE INTERNET, IM NOT ONE FOR ADVOCATING ANTIBIOTICS [i THINK ONE OF THE CAUSES OF THIS THROUGH THE LAST TEN YEARS IS THE MIS_USE OF ANTIBIOTICS, AND THROUGH THIS WE HAVE ACTUALY CAUSED THIS WEEKNESS ] IF ITS JUST THESE TWO BIRDS I WOULD TRY THE CIDER VINEGAR IN THEIR WATER ,FLOCK TREAT THEM ALL [bUT SEPERATE THESE TWO YB,S] IF IT GOT ANY WORSE IE MORE BIRDS GOING LIKE THIS , I THINK I WOULD HAVE TO GO AGAINST MY PRINCIPALS AND TREAT WITH BAYTRILL [AS MENTIONED IN A POST ABOVE ] IF YOU FEEL YOU NEED THIS ,,PM ME ,,LETS JUST HOPE THAT ITS A ONE OFF THING WITH THESE TWO YB,S BUT I MUST SAY I HAVE MY DOUBTS ,I HOPE YOU CAN GET THIS RESOVED WITHOUT USING ANTIBIOTICS ,AND WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK [sPRAYING THE LOFT WITH VIRKON S IS A GREAT THING AT ANY TIME , TO KEEP ANY NASTIES AWAY]
  17. bird on its way home,,,tomorrow
  18. THANKS RED CH H WILL PHONE
  19. the old story ,,,,,,,,,,,,is it pigeon , management, or luck in my opinion , in these races not a lot of luck involved, i would say, the pigeon is as important as the management. and the management as important as the pigeon b4 these long distance races, i selected 6 members to be in well, the 6 are in well
  20. HOPE YOU GET IT BACK WEE GAZ,, [iS THAT P.J.]

  22. great performance by Stuart Mullin, certainly is a strong west wind ,,,again congrats to all who have timed , and for those who havent , lets hope you see a pigeon drop.. frankdooman,, we are told to put all races , libs , time ins etc on "race day" postings ,[thats why it was put up] but i think your right , these are very important races and should be on the main page , if the webmaster decides to change it , he will do that himself
  23. good luck madmax ,,,,great if you could break that duck ,,,,and time in on the day
  24. harry hoofter , no doubt alias?? please do not spoil a very serious thread ,,,,,,,,,,,these are all fantastic pigeons and all fantastic fliers . and for your rather smart post :-/ i think were talking about the joe murphy chalenge trophy , we all know joe is a scribe in the b.h.w and makes a fantastic job in covering this race, and off course as the name suggests it was he, who presented this trophie ,
  25. well done to all the gallant pigeons ,and their proud owners who have timed [quite a lot of familiar names] really fantastic stuff, a special congratulations to mr willcox in peterhead ,,,really some flying , after reporting a fine morning early on , it turned out pretty nasty at times ,heavy showers in the lothians, i just hope that the members who havent got one yet ,, soon do
