  1. not so long ago you could buy this over the counter in most chemists a big bottle ,very cheaply [aquas iodine] , for some reason unknown to me you cant seem to get it now yet again the pigeon supplement firms , make money from the pigeon fancier
  2. looking great,, hope all goes well
  3. well done indeed vic , glad to hear that, and best of luck
  4. hope all had a great time
  5. idont know if boiling the cabbage would maybe diminish any of the iron in this juice, my father used to dig a cabbage up , roots and all ,wash it , sprinkle a little salt on it hang it upside down in the loft , when the birds were feeding youngsters they would eat this, readily
  6. aquas iodine , for some unknown reason is very rarely used nowadays , maybe because its too cheap this is an exellent supplement for pigeons after a race ,or pairing up, ,etc ,,,even feeding yb,s , this is a mild antiseptic , that will clean any wounds , around the beak , wattles area, also aiding in the spread of some infections , if i remember correctly" lugols solution" is actually aquas iodine ,, and the dose is a few drops added to the drinking water
  7. well done jayson,,next stop blackpool
  8. there are at least one pair nest on the old forth rail bridge each year
  9. i think i know what colour you mean , many years ago i bough a yellow racer,yb, [which had raced , but not really successfully, this was like the one in the first pic on this post [allthough that is a show racer],, i then paired this" yellow cheq, well call it" to a meally show racer , these bred , the" yellow, meally type " , i think you are meaning but these yellow meally type were all hens [i didnt breed any further down the line ] the" yellow meally type racer cross show racer" flew over one hundred miles , which enabled me to enter them in the one hundred mile class show , very successfully , this was many years ago ,as a lad ,really but at that time , i made the mistake of breeding for beauty since then ive had many ugly , very good pigeons

  11. feed them right ,, they should fly well [hour am ,,hour pm ], without training , providing their healthy and been trained as yb,s
  12. you can only tell a good pigeon that will suit you, by the basket , but in saying that , the management of the bird is the be all and end all theres many good pigeons in the wrong hands
  13. i would prefer an open loft in winter,, if it werent for hawks , but would have them out as much as poss [they do get street wise to these hawks , to a certain extent] but find that distance pigeons are better for this [open lofts]
  14. one of the funniest [not at the time ;D] was seeing the bird drop ,, running towards the loft . only to be catapulted back with the washing line by the throat ;D ;D
  15. happy birthday bart ,,have a great day
  16. no josh,, no harm at all,, but it would maybe bettter to have your birds droppings tested , maybe find the cause first, rather than the treatment,, but a white sesqui tablet would not do any harm whatsoever
  17. mans life is laid in the loom of time, to a pattern he does not see, while the weavers work, and the shuttles fly, till the dawn of eternity. some shuttles are are filled with silver threads, and some with threads of gold , while often but the darker hues, are all that they may hold. but the weaver watches with a skillfull eye, each shuttle to and fro, and sees the pattern so deftly wrought, as the loom moves sure and slow. god surely planned the pattern, each thread , the dark the fair, is chosen by his masters skill, and placed in the web with care. he only knows its beauty, and guides the shuttles which hold, the threads so unattractive, as well , as the threads of gold, not till each loom is silent , and the shuttles cease to fly, shall god reveal the pattern, and explain the reason why . the dark threads were as needfull, in the weavers skillfull hand, as the threads of gold and silver, for the pattern he has planned. anon.

  19. i had the impression,[ maybe im wrong] that this particular bird had been a released one by "guess who" ,,, as it didnt seem to be very wild at all in the midst of the public [i was wilder ] maybe if the public were to see it eating any birds in the hospital grounds ,,,,,well they wouldnt be pleased ???
