Novar club rooms 7pm. The purpose of this meeting is to get some ideas as to how we as members can make the fed work in a better way. The feeling from a lot of members is that we are on a slippery slope down, and that we need to act now, for the sake of the future of our fed. Please come along, and lets band about some ideas. This has been done now, as at the agm it becomes manic, and some members feel threatened if they suggest anything. If we do this now prior to the agm in january, we can have ideas ironed out and everyone has an idea of what is being proposed. Please pass this about so that we can get as many members as we can. Regards alex.

Met George and Gareth at Joe Murphys sporting challenge, what a great pair of men. So sad to hear this news, my thoughts go out to Gareth and his family and friends at this very sad time. alex.

I was talking to a fellow fancier who was talking about all sides of our sport and he touched on this subject. I never said anything at the time but was quite curious. I thought you had to be a member of a fed ect to fly. Are there any of these clubs in Scotland? I know there a few in England. How do they work and what is their purpose? Thanks in advance, alex. Before anyone jumps off the deep end and start assuming i,m up to something, be reassured that its only for my info only.

Does anyone use their computer to print out prize cards, not through eastcoast software, maybe next year for that. For this year i would like to edit them on the laptop then print them off, instead of writing by hand. It makes it better quality if printed. Thanks in advance alex.

At the young bird national 2011, not one pigeon was timed into the west section of Fife, and only 2 fanciers timed into the centre section. Just goes to show how much a bearing the wind does have. Here in the west its frustrating at the best of times, but we leave no stone unturned to try and compete. If i,m brutally honest, the next few years must bare fruit for me or a complete rethink on my part will be undertaken. Whats the point of continuing when its near impossible to achieve anything. When i stayed in the east i was able to hold my own, so i know i can do it. But now in the west is proving very hard. I dont knock anyone for winning from anywhere unlike some, i know the situation and accept it, however hard it is. Heres hoping something manages to go my way next year, and prove myself wrong/right

Looking to fit some perspex panels to the roof of the both lofts and incorporate vents at the same time. I feel the loft is too stuffy, and not bright enough. I,ll get some photos in due course.

I recieved this e-mail from Linda Brooks. FAO ALL SHU MEMBERS PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO ACCESS THE INTERNET AND GOOGLE ‘RED TAPE CHALLENGE’ POST A COMMENT UNDER THE SECTION ON WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT. YOU WILL BE AWARE THAT CURRENT LEGISLATION DOES NOT ALLOW US TO CONTROL BIRDS OF PREY TO PROTECT OUR PIGEONS. DESPITE THERE BEING A FACILITY TO APPLY FOR A LICENCE - NO LICENCE HAS EVER BEEN GRANTED. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF RED TAPE BING USED TO PREVENT SENSIBLE BALANCED CONTROL IN OUR COUNTRYSIDE Please go to the site and leave your thoughts, try and be diplomatic, as joe public will read the comments. Lets help our sport in a small way. Regards alex http://www.redtapechallenge.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/environment/biodiversity-wildlife-management-landscape-countryside-and-recreation/

I,ve tried to get Fife federation to look at our situation, but some of the powers at be, dont seem to see the same problem its members see. Now is the time to sort it out, but it seems we are waiting till a meeting in december which is far too late. Good luck for trying to do the best for your fed, my hat goes of to you.

cheaper making them davie, the ones i,ve seen from rv woodcraft and boddy ridewood cost a small fortune. http://www.rvwoodcraft.com/loft-accessories/item/12-floor-grills.html

Just scrub it into the slabs? I,ve power washed them today so will try treating it with jeyes. I,ll do the aviary tomoro and do the same. Cheers paul

I have slabs in front of my lofts, but due to lack of direct sunlight they are turning green with algae. My aviary is the same which is made of wood. Is there anything that i can treat both the slabs and the woodwork with to stop this build up. The way i get rid of it just now is to power wash it all. Regards alex.

I dont think that ANY national race is fair. The reason being the wind factor and the distance factor. shortest distance on the Leicester result=184 miles. longest distance being =352 miles. Surely these 2 birds are in a different class ie middle/sprint, and distance. So how can this be an equal race? Thats like a marathon runner being in the same race as sprint to middle distance runner. And for the marathon runner to win would have to maintain the same speed as the sprinter did for it to get home. In my opinion it would have to be done by distance and have different categories ie group one would be up to lofts up to 200miles group two would be from 200 miles to 270 miles group three would be from 270 miles to 350 miles This is only an idea, and not a clue how the finer points would be addressed, ie basketing ect. To make it even more fairer is to have an east race point and a west race point, in the space of 2 weeks and then the velocities would be taken from the both races to achieve the winner of each group. Could it work? not a clue. my opinion only
