No disagreeing John but 60 mile races following the tail in front and then stopping them for the year isnae the answer either, cos there's nobody doing that in the Pentland Fed thats beating anyone whose racing them right out as yearlings.
Got too agree here Derek. They're for racing, no looking at how much crap you've got for next year, first head wind just like Marlborough this year and all the yearlings are lost, everyone blaming convoyers race controllers Cornflake Index and any other excuse, get them away, tried and tested and out breed the weaklings just like we all did 30 years ago. Although I will concede we have more obstacles ie: Peregrines..
Yes, I collected the bird from Jim last night...I've left better in the loft.....Is this the problem? Too many birds in poor condition, possibly holding others back. Big Da still talking P***!!
42/68 from Thirsk. Pentland Fed, 1380 vel. First 5 in club drop together then a few minutes later another 4, half home at clocks when some didn't even time in. Where the *expletive removed* do they get to.......
Gareth, If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you always got, and that is a lot of losses in about the Wear & Tyne Valley, so we are trying to get the birds to have a run at them. It may work, may not, Saturday will tell.
Pentland Fed racing seems to have been good for 3 weeks with very little losses, although they've only had 3 Ridsdales, 76 miles to me. This week we're at Thirsk 140 miles, so things could change. Mine on their way to Otterburn at the moment (66 miles) so fingers crossed for a good toss......
