how can a pigeon "wise up" to hawk attacks.....?

welcome to the site babybird, i dont race my birds yet but i try and manage them as close to racing as i can ....then they have a head start for if/when i do, youve got the right idea wanting to do the same....good luck with them.

what, if anything are the rpra doing about the problem with the falcons/hawks that are having a free for all with our pigeons? :-/

correct numpty01, and they have the cheek to call themselves R.S.P.B ...what they are doing is protecting the hunter, what about the hunted? mind you its just par for the course, they protect the pedophiles and no goods of this country with their "human rights", and dont give a toss about the victims.... :X

anyone know what happened to the pigeons and eggs/ybs in the birmingham nest?`obviously the falcon has not come back so where are they....camera was off for about three days then when it came back on the pigeons were gone. >

when you are feeding them, dont just throw the corn into them and go out....sit in with them and talk to them, i sit on the floor and after a while they start to peck at your trousers and start to sit on your knee/leg.....also after a while if you have a bit of corn in your hand they will start to peck at your hand and take the corn, like j.a.m. says, peanuts are good for getting them tame. all this takes time so be prepared to sit in with them every day...... (peanuts 75 pence from asda......)

when i restarted last year i bought a load of old racing pigeon pictorials off of ebay.....they were fairly cheap and give some great reading......

had a look, is the camera always stopping and starting or is it supposed to be like that....although ive no liking for the bird its great what they have done with the cameras.....thanks bob.

yes she/he is shuffling about as though eggs have hatched and not as still as when on eggs but no sign of shell being discarded.....maybe chipping?

whats in derby? is it a nestcam as well?

hi, when i saw bird come off nest im sure there was only one egg...could be wrong? hpoe they do well and get out before the falcon gets back(hopefully it wont be coming back,might have met with an unfortunate accident ;D ;D ;D)

agree with this....leave them for now, dont go scaring them off or you could loose them while they are just getting their bearings. once they are flying around properly and you have a routine going (feeding etc) they will get out of the habit.

oh right, are all cooremans like that? is it a good thing or a bad thing they are aggressive when it comes to racing?

do you give them peanuts?....

hi i use garlic cloves in the drinking water and at the moment its in 24/7... (hi kevd hope the birds are doing well for you)
